Back to stock Bypass

After a loud backfire today, I switched my turbosmart back to the original bypass vlave. Since switching, I have noticed smoother running and driving. But, it doesn't seem to be as loud as it used to be. I can hear it a little, but nothing like it used to be. Seems to be running fine. This is only temporary since my Forge will here Monday, but I was just curious to why its not sounding the same. Maybe just needs to be re-broken in again?

i'm sure the valve seems quite because you are used to hearing the old valve . switching from the turbosmart to forge, ....... great idea. cheaper and proven dependable.

yeah thats what i was thinking also, but it still seems a little quiter than it was when i first put on the intake. how does it drive with the forge? turbosmart was backfiring, bucking, but it sounded cool!

forge drives just like stock, but sounds awesome.
i suggest you use the blue spring, it helps you spool up faster

Just allow me to make sure I have this correct...your turbosmart BOV was not a recirculating design, right?

I ask because a BOV is a BOV, and you have two primary ways of making it work. Either vent to atmosphere, or recirc. ANY BOV/BPV in recirculation should be just fine for this car.

The Forge is what I'll be using most likely, but any BOV that is properly designed to run recirc should be good to go.

it is the hybrid design. it backfired daily but they were small. it let out a big one about once a week. i have it set up just like SU said. it held boost well and sounded great, but drivability was worse. it would backfire with any shift under 4k.

Forge is a good choice, I love mine. I use the blue spring. Very cool sound, although it might take a little bit to get used to it. It's a very distinctive "clank".

installed the forge earlier today and i already love it. much much louder than i was expecting and best of all, no backfiring or bucking!!! i used the blue spring like most people suggested.

I had my issues with turbosmarts too, But I think I just got a bad unit, running full recirc, I would boost up to 16psi then drop to like 8-10, where as with the stock bpv I boost up to 16 and hold 13-15 depending on the gear.

Can't be any worse than the 2gen DSM stock valve, could it? Are you going with the black or the polished piece?

I have the turbosmart Hybrid and dont get any of wat the OP was metioning....The car idles and drives smooth...Also i noticed after install the car was pulling harder too....
