AWR Sway bar Pics!

well i just got a new limit on the old credit card so i think ill be letting AWR just **** my car!

Thanks for the clarification.

Okay, another newbie question: What are "endlinks" and what do they do?

Hey smithers, those shocks you have are the tokico blues, right???
If i were to get this sway bar, that means I would have to reinforce the tab where the endlinks mount, no?? I've heard that the ones on the tokico's are reinforced, and the stock ones will break if you don't reinforce them. Is this true???

Really?? well, that settles it then.....as soon as i get 250 bucks, I'm gonna get me a 21.5 mm AWR rear sway bar!

thanks for the awesome pics smithers. i was kinda confused when i opened my box a few minutes ago but the pics of it installed help it all make sense

big bump for this thread too, mine has something called "conical washers" or something to that effect instead of those little rubber rings...is that the noise fix?

by moving the links between the arms, he means that you can detach the clamshell link on the bar (the black rectangle), and position it so the endlink runs between the arms on the suspension's lateral link. the bar isn't really designed to be used that way and having it that stiff might get you into trouble on the street, but it's apparently the way to go for autoX.

What exactly does the front bar do? I always thought that a bigger front bar gave the car more understeer?

it can on some cars*, but it also helps the car turn in a lot faster. depends on what you're looking for. with the 21.5 bar in the rear, a bigger front bar will probably not introduce any understeer problems. you'll probably appreciate the quick turn-in response more than the slight tail-happiness at the limit anyway.

(in reality, if you're understeering a protege on the street, you need to slow down.)

*some FWD cars, like the neon, understeer less w/ a bigger front bar.

Yeah I was confused too. I have the Racing Beat rear bar and I just got the AWR endlinks. The endlinks come with "instructions", but there is no mention of what to do with the 8 rubber grommets or the 8 metal washers that are included. I used a couple of the metal washers, but I wasn't convinced that the rubber ones are used in my application. I have the conical washers too.

So basically the order is that I installed is:
bolt - conical washer - endlink - conical washer - sway bar - metal washer - nylock nut. Does that sound right to you folks? Or should I go back out there and install some rubber ones someplace?

I guess I will email Tony...

They are suppesed to go on the endlinks at the "Ball" to quiet the setup down...

I had the same problem. If you don't get the washers right, you can f-ck up the slider brackets. I have the old endlinks, but I doctored them to kill the clunk.

"T" shaped washers go on top. ;)

This is kinda unexpected for me because I helped MyFoggy put in his swaybar a couple months ago, and his endlinks came from AWR assembled.
I guess he got lucky.

Ya those are O-rings. It's supposed to be AWR's answer to the joints going past their "turning point" so it doesn't clunk or tear the joints up.
Accually the Orings are to keep the dirt and crap out of the joint it self ,they also keep the rattle down on the jont . I have been using the rings for awhile now , They do help

you can get it either way, but if i were you id definitely spring for the endlinks (i think you have to have them for the 21.5mm bar but the 19mm can use the stockers)

heres some big help for all of you, the large pics awr sent me on how to assemble them
sorry for the massiveness but if you got the money for the bar and dont have broadband, buy that first instead ;)

Awesome post! And Thanks for the pics. The first one is what mine looks like, and I guess that I will make it look like the last one. I don't have that aluminum bracket since these are on a Racing beat bar.
