AWR Rear Engine Mount OR Corksport Inserts?

As the title states, I have my intake, looking for my next mod, and I figured that some type of rear motor mount upgrade and TWM shifter bushings would be good to go to next. Question is, which one do I go with?

The Corksport inserts are only $35 which means I can get them and the shifter bushings for about the same price as just the AWR Mount, BUT they are only inserts.

AWR is $90, BUT it is actually the entire new mount, which gives me more comfort for some reason. I have inserts on my other car and no problems, but I want to make sure I go the right path.

Any input would be great. Thanks!

I can only comment on what I did with my VW GTI.

I had the option of a full dogbone mount or inserts. I bought the full, and after a month took it off and went with the inserts.

The inserts to me were a good compromise and didn't make my CD player skip @ low RPM take offs.

if u just want to have a little insurance to the stock for daily drive....corksport is good choice....cheap and use the same stock mount....if u do more spirit driving or hit the autoX/track every now and then....awr or su mount is the way to go.....i have awr 70 on my for about 4 months.... and i hit the autoX every other sunday.....its great upgrade vs the stock mount...

Yea I am not much of a track go'er with this car as it is the DD, more of just the occasional spirited ride around or highway runabout, but no autox or anything. How much vibration resonates into the cabin with the AWR 70 on the car? If I went AWR, 70 is what I would choose, but I think I am leaning towards the inserts, because if my CD player skips... I'm gonna be pissed!

where u can u buy inserts for the mount? i saw some somewhere but only for the regular 3...please give me a link.

I have the motor mount from SU. I have enjoyed it so far. Vibration is only noticed when sitting still with the AC on. My CD player has not skipped once. Second gear wheel hop is almost eliminated.

well i tore my 70 duro AWR mount to pieces, replaced it with an 88 duro, and that one is already showing signs of failure.
as for inserts i've used them in the past and did not care for them.... there is very little improvement.
there will be a dogbone style mount that is almost solid that will be available soon. i know this because i am testing it before it goes for sale.
i recomend you wait and buy this from protege garage soon.

here is a pic....

maybe the mount is supposed to have movement so there is less strees on the engine...its like punching a brick wall compared to a rubber wall....just thought about it and wouldnt a stiff mount be bad for the engine?

How did you tear the mount apart (boom01) ? What kind of driving are we talking about? The dogbone style mount from protege garage looks great, but with a mount of that style, it's going to transfer a lot of vibration into the car.. mine is a DD and will probably never see track time... just fun. How much vibration transfer did you get from the 70 duro?

There is a group buy on another forum for the Corksport inserts.
I have them in my MS3 and they are great for daily driving.

Feel free to PM me if you can't find it.

i had VERY minor vibration with the 70 and the 88 duro mounts.
i know there will be slightly more with the dogbone but so what......
i will feel better knowing it wont break on me. and the point of using ANY upgraded mount is to limit torque robbing engine movement. eliminating this movement will in no way damage the engine.

my 70 duro mount broke at the dragstrip.... i launched a little too hard got lots of wheel hop and the bushin shredded and flew off the car.
i replaced it with the 88 duro mount, which i had remove to do a test fit for the dogbone mount. at that time i looked at the awr mount and saw that the bushing was all pushed in on one side.
i know of at least 2 other people who have broken these as well.
AWR is a good company with good products, but i think these mounts need to be re-designed.

I see that you are testing out the dogbone
do you have any good updates on the mount?
I take my MS3 to the dragstrip all the time the one thing I dont like is that damm wheel hop... I install 235 17" rims runing at 23psi and it helps out the wheel hop big time my best run was 14.13 @ 98.2mph

Took the car to the drags the other weekend and did fine with the CS inserts. Even double checked the inserts last week and they are in good shape, these have been on the car for a little over 1k miles now.

Only problem I could not finesse my way through was the stock TMIC heat soaking. I pushed the car to the burn out box twice, after sitting around with the hood open for a while, and noticed a definite difference.
Waiting for the FMIC to try again.

Heres a fix for that........................ BAG OF ICE.

It won't hurt anything, hell water makes its way to the IC when driving in the rain right. Just get a bag of ice and leave on the IC during the run. Poke some holes in it to Allow the water to run over the IC. that WILL will help.

Hell i used Dry ice one time, but then was asked not to do it anymore by a track official cause my SVO always had "smoke" coming from the scoop (CO2 vapor).

Wanna get Real nifty, install a fan in the scoop area. I found these small squirrel cage fans for stereo stuff. I might try it one day.

Don't get me wrong i like FMIC, but i like stealth more and the fact the FMIC for the MS3 are crazy expensive IMO.

yea i dont see need for upgraded to fmic...just sprayer of some sort and a hood with ducts on it...even if u sit in traffic for long time in heat..after driving a few hundred feet with a hood with ducts would cool it down right away

Yea, FC's with TMIC's and water to air IC's taught me about using ice a while ago but this was just a spur of the moment trip and I simply wanted to see how it would do as is and give the mount inserts a work out. The only reason I tried pushing it while leaving the hood up was to see how noticeable it would be.

I have no problem with "each his own", it should be that way to a certain extent. Corksport is using my car for testing so I get the benefit of some prototype parts. Why not use them?
