AWR Motor Mounts VS RR-Racing Inserts

No, the front and rear RR Racing Inserts http://www.rr-racing.com/engine-mounts.htm VS the AWR Mounts. Front and rear inserts are $55 shipped compared to $90 shipped for one AWR mount. Obviously not many people have expierence with the RR Racing inserts...I might have to get them to try them out.

don't forget installation cost on the AWRs if you're not going to do the rear yourself - it's a BIG job. Front installation is a no-brainer.

yeah, the front one is not too bad. just spray some PB blaster on it to loosen it up.

for the rear one, i hear you can install the the RR inserts without removing the entire mount, so it's possible to do it yourself too.

See thats what i am mainly thinking on, is the installation. The inserts would be 100 times easier to install and still pretty much get the job done just as well.

i just read somewhere else on this board (sorry, didn't copy the link), that a couple of guys have done the inserts on the rear so the stock one doesn't get messed up, and the AWR AT (88 durometer I think) or MT (95 durometer) on the front. Good drivability, not huge vibration like the AWRs f+r, huge improvement over the stock jello POS mounts, and not a nasty installation.

Since my car is mostly performance oriented and I don't mind the vibration, I'd definitely get the AWRs again. Though I might go with the AT mounts instead of the MT...

I have the rr-inserts. They work good, and the vibrations arnt too bad. No wheel hop at the track either. I paid $100 for install of inserts.

I just ordered all 4 AWR mounts/inserts in 70 durameter. The 70s are supposed to be great for vibration and killing wheel hop at the same time.

I completely forgot about this thread. After having them installed for three months, I am extremely happy with the results. The install is relatively simple, for me it was more difficult. It was so because one of my tranny bolts was missing. Therefore I only had two left, all of the strain of months of hard shifts on thrashed motor mounts took a toll on the lower one mostly. The threads were mostly sheared off, it took about an hour to get the damn bolt out to without completely stripping the tranny to install the rear insert. Ok, back to the point.

I am very happy with the RR-Racing inserts. The vibration is not too bad, worse with A/C or Heater on. With the A/C or Heater on, it vibrates the change in the ashtray and the steering wheel like a cell phone on vibrate or even less(to give you an idea of the intensity). The benefits are insane. With a Stage I Clutchmasters Clutch and the f/r inserts I have to feather the clutch from a stop to keep from peeling out wherever I go. Wheel hop is nominal, the car still bucks in 1st gear idle. Customer service from RR-Racing is great. I recieved the inserts in 3 days! I highly reccomend them.

jtmp3- might as well get the front and rear. Only $55, and insane results.

I have ridden in a P5 with the 95 durometer awr mounts. The idle vibration was way too much for me. Once you get past idle RPMs there is no vibration, but the idle is killer. Just the sound from the vibration was like a subwoofer at a constant note, the interior pieces chatter like hell, of course this transfers to almost non existant wheel hop, but I was more concerned with the comfort level of daily driving and sitting at stop lights. The 88 aren't as bad but still WAY too much vibration for me. If you are going to be sitting at a lot of stoplights then I would definately go with the RR-Racing inserts.

Ah, that is what I wanted to hear. I have the 88durometer rear mount right now and it just shakes the crap out of everything.

Yeah, I haven't any experience with 70s but as I have heard it is still more-so than the inserts. Inserts all the way!
