Then I'd say just replace the rods. Especially since your doing the work yourself. You could have it done for under $750 easy, including fluids, harware, and bearings.

hed have to machine the stock pistons if all he was replacing was the rods. even then the stock pistons like to go around 300whp

I considered that, but when I brought it up before I was told exactly what 2.0t03speed said, so I said, "**** that" and decided to buy pistons.

What's the point in buying forged rods and then using same pistons? That's beyond half assing it. People that do that probly b**** when they blow it up too

1200 for forged rods+ pistons...200 for rebuilt turbo...300 for megasquirt standalone..200 for wideband...injectors...100-200sh depending...fmic...100-200 depending again...

clutch stuff...500 or 2k for a qauifee? just depends.

I'd say you can do just about do it for 3-4k on average personally.

3-4k LOL K thats enough for the motor when you also add studs, gaskets, bearings, machine work, timing belt kit water pump.... now add awr oil pan, clutch, injectors, fmic, wb, knocklight, fmic, motor mounts, full exhaust, intake a new bigger turbo when you see youre hard earned invested money has been limited by the teeny stocker at 13psi which also means boost controller and something to tune with....

Don't forget sticky tires and about 7k more for the transmission when gears start exploding (whistle)

ya straight up 3-4k aint gonna get u **** all.

You people crack me up. Who has actually built a motor????

I am 90 % of the way done with mine and have about 7,000 in it. I have about 500 worth of parts left to buy.

I have.

And the main question was REBUILD price. Not full build(aka clutch, turbo, and crap). I have over 10g's in my motor bay alone. EASILY! but for a built block it wasn't even 1/2 the price. Most expensive thing was a Long Block. Click on my sig and you can see what all parts I have.

Yeah, two FMICs would be an overkill... lol

Yeah, but people want to ignore that and have a pissing contest or something, because I'm fairly certain I'm the only person in here that contributed by answering his question correctly noting that I'm using forged rods and pistons. But everyone else wants to go off on some wild tangent about fully building an engine to daily that's putting down 300whp and a metric ****-ton of supporting parts which has nothing to do with the original post, but whatever.

I'd say for your average joe, to pay someone to replace rods, pistons, bearings, fluid, harware, and get your machine work done your looking at $3k+.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Are you just a piss head in every thread you get into? Your car is pretty much stock....

This is what a built bottom end looks like...

And there are the parts that go in said built bottom end

I paid 1000 for the rods, pistons, block and crank.
300 for machine work
250 to get the head done
Timing belt kit runs 200
Cometic gasket kit runs about 300.
various small parts say another 400
Arp's top and bottom were 250
You could put the motor back in with the stock turbo and everything at this point.

Looking at 2500 assuming you do all the leg work yourself.

Know what to settle this, I will do a full block build price and look up my machining costs and give you a more exact price. :) just for a rebuilt block (forged) and a rebuilt head. The price would only change depending on your piston/rod usage and if you do the work. Give me about 30-60mins cause I gotta get the list together.
