What kind of air filter do you have? If it's a panel filter that you put in like K&N, then you are in NDS --> Novice D Stock. If it's a CAI/SRI, then NSTX

well, i'm not exactly sure what it is, since the previous owner put in on.... its not a panel filter that goes into the stock box, its a cylinder shaped filter, but not a CAI or SRI or anything, just a different filter on the end of the regular tubing. I'll see if i can find pics...

EDIT: pic...

I'll be there auto-x'ing for the first time too. Any idea what class I have to register for? Tein springs, short ram intake, meagan exhuast?

It'll be fun! I got convinced to drive my first time there and I have a blast. You don't have to drive the first time, you can ride in other peoples' cars and make your decision to drive the next time or not. Either way, just come out and watch and decide there. Don't worry about being the first time there. The people there are very helpful and they'll even ride with you to give you tips on improving your driving and help you out. You won't regret driving though (thumb) .

Man, you know all the classes and stuff? Where`s the list or what not? Is it on the SASCA website? And what`s the SASCA website; http://www.sasportscar.com/forum/login.asp?target=portal_content.asp ?

Well, I was reading that stuff and I don`t see how a BOV should change your category. I still don`t know what category I`m in but it sounds like I`m in Street Modified w/o CF hood + Intercooler sprayer, which I can`t use cause it`s a nitrous bottle full of CO2 and nitrous bottles are not allowed... Let me tell you what I have and you tell me what you think. CAI, FMIC (w/HKS BOV, stupid rule), catless downpipe, AWR motor mounts, CO2 N-tercooler which I guess will have to be taken out?, AFC, 13" cross-drilled and slotted rotors with 4-piston Wilwood calipers. Those rules kind of suck.

There's a list in the SCCA Rule Book
http://scca.com/_filelibrary/File/2006_solo_rules.pdf

And one in this forum
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123615560&page=1

And ya, that's the SASCA website

ya, should be in Street Modified. You could run in the novice Street Modified class (NSM). Some of the rules do suck, like removing a badge will bump you up a class...

And I have all except the one MAZDASPEED badge taken off. I don`t wanna be SM class... If I was gonna go I just wanna have fun, and I bet people who are pretty good will probably get in the novice category. I don`t have much $ anyway. If I go, I`ll watch until I get a good stand alone and EBC.

Novice is where all the new people are. They're pretty new and if you won first place for a couple of times, then you can move out of novice. They have the standing against other novices instead of the class you're in (SM). They multiply your time by a certain amount (different for each class) and make the time competitive to each other.

I'm still in novice and the first time I went, I was at NSTS with no knowledge of how to drive. This will be my third time. I just go out there and have fun and compete and test out my car. If you wanna watch the first time, that's fine too. You can get more experience and knowledge and be ready to drive the next time.

Thanks.

Are yall still planning to drive or watch? It's in 4 days. It's free to watch and ride in other cars, and $25 to drive. Each car should have around 6-8 runs.

You can preregister at http://www.dlbracing.com or register at the event.

The Mazda3s will be meeting at BK in San Marcos at around 7:15AM - 7:30AM. Then we'll all head down to the amphitheater together.

Burger King Restaurant:

SAN MARCOS, TX 78666-7037

Highway 80 exit

You can join us if you want, the more the better (thumb)

I'm going, maybe i'll meet you at BK, is it the one by the university?? Thats the only one i know of.....

anyway, i'm going, i'm drivin, my dads coming along.... tried to get some other guys to come but they can't drive, they may come just to watch.

Question.... do we have to do anything about #'s?? Like, do we need to bring carchalk, or get magnetic numbers, or is that taken care of there??

A lot of guys just use that blue painters tape for their numbers. I'm not sure if it's supplied there or not. You could probably find someone there that would let you have some.
