Automatic door locks

I had something interesting happen the other day. While waiting on the wife, I was standing outside and unlocked the doors with the key remote. I didn't get in the car, waiting for my wife to come out so I could lock the front door. I heard the locks on the car click. I know I didn't hit the button again. The doors locked automatically. The elapsed time between unlock with remote and the doors locking again was about 5 min.. Tried this again later, just too make sure I didn't hit the lock button. It relocked on its own. Anybody ever have this happen?

Yup, that's the way it works. If you unlock with the remote, if you don't open a door it will relock itself. This is a protection against a "false" unlock signal. It's "helping" you.

I was worried about this for awhile and wouldn't leave my car running with the windows up ever cause I feared it may lock itself with the keys in the ignition and running.

My Si locks automatically. I love it!!! I hate that the Speed 3 does not. :(

weird... any specific reason why they cant do that on MT's?
I don't know where the system has its hooks, so this is my best uneducated guess...
Since a lot of how speed is measured has to do with the transaxle and the output shaft, I'd imagine that with the added complexity of the AT, putting in such functionality was fairly cheap and simple. It's entirely possible that the engineers didn't want to add any cost/complexity/weight to the MT to have that function available.
