Autolock Functionality Doesn't Always Work!

I am all for the safety aspect, and I understand that. With safety in mind, what happens if I unlock all doors by two presses? Same concern with that mugger or car jacker laying in wait.
My dealer, Sharrett's in Hagerstown, claims they cannot program "auto-lock" to lock all doors when the vehicle is placed in drive. At least not on the 08's. GM does it for your safety on most cars. Mazda can program auto lock when you walk away, but as many have posted above Mazda's SmartCard isn't. You just might find that car jacker laying in the back seat if you rely on the SmartCard to auto-lock.
Having to push the drivers door button three times to access the rear seat area when the drivers door is already unlocked irritates me the most.

True. You can't program the CX9 to lock when it is placed into drive on 2008 or 2007.
They have different models of BCMs that do not support locking by gear or speed.
And, I also agree that the one-push-unlock-all should have been a programmable option.
My wife's Prius was the same from Toyota, but I was able to program it myself to unlock all at one push.
Smart or not, the design is probably under advice from corporate lawyers....
On the contrary, Prius does not support autolock (the one that locks when you walk away), but it does
in Japan. Our CX9s allow us to do that. I guess corporate lawyers do not agree to one another....
After getting so frustrated in trying to get the autolock to work (esp having paid to get this done), I finally changed the batteries.
It works like a charm now. I guess it was low on battery. Now, even with my iPhone in the pocket next to the remote, it still functions (not just the autolock feature, but generally locking and unlocking via the door button).
