2k3.5 p5 ftw!
i am planning on getting the dgm replica autoexe lip (urethane), but i was wondering from someone who has had it installed how the process works? is there damage visible from installing it, say on the visilbe parts of the car if the lip was removed? i am pretty sure i will go to a shop that can both paint and install it, and i don't want them to mess up the front end underneath the lip.

thanks,
matt

no, you wont find damage from the urthane lip @ all, unless you happen to scrape it bad. Urthane is nothing like fiberglass whitch would scrap up your front end paint job. lata

When I got mine from DGM (carbon fiber bottom and fiberglass top) it came with two bolts that will go on the sides in the wheel well. Other people would say use some adhesive underneathe. I think it fits pretty tight up against your bumper so I just used the two bolts on the side and thats it. It should be the same with the urethane lip unless they change something.

hey jdm_mp5, could you post pics. i also have a white p5 and i want to see what the cf lip will look like

This is the best pic I have at the moment. It looks really clean on the white!

does the part of it going into the foglight actually go behind it or does it sit pretty flush to the front? any problems with it/prep work?

mmmmmmmmm CF...look gooood...but id still prefer the color of my car for the lip to go with it..personal preference

The O.G. Autoexe replica has six places where you need to secure. Two screws on each side and 2 at the bottom. It should not scrape your bumper at all.

well if ure going with the lip urethane is the way to go. ive hit mine so many times, but im glad autoexe did a good job with their molding. if u decide on a grill also though...
be careful! okay, ull have that sucker nicely bolted to your front end. youll scrape eventually, but if u plan to get a fiberglass grill, i warn u, ull crack it. the stress from the front being pushed on the ground will cause small marks in your grill. after a while, it'll become more obvious. good luck - chris

aww man thats not what i want to hear... oh well.. anyone making grills out of tougher materials?

urthane is the best way to go hands down ... it gives, unlike fiberglass. I scrapped mine multipule time do to the fact that I also have a 2'' drop and it never broke or cracked.

If sets right below the fog lights...It's not really what you call "flush." Especially the replicas. There will be gaps...but you learn to live with them.

l8r so your saying as long as i don't plow the front lip i will be good with the grill... i am already very cautious when entering/leaving ramps etc. plus i don't have a drop (right now) but am looking for some 17" rims in which case i would need to drop to not look awkward....

such a balance of looks and functionality!

btw your p5 photoshoot is my desktop at work l8r hehe

when u say grill do you mean LL?

Im confused

How would the grill crack? No matter how hard you scrape your LL it should not effect your grill.

What do you currently drive? a Protege5? if you get 17's and the LL you will have minor to no problems clearing things. I can still clear most speed bumps and get up some steep driveways with my Mp3 and a 2'' drop. You will be fine.

what do you mean by LL?
yeah i drive a p5, i guess i'll be fine if you have very few issues

thanks
