Auto Tranny Curiosity...

Just a quick question...

Has anyone else with the auto tranny noticed that it doesn't really like to creep along in stop and go traffic. i.e. when moving along at a few km/h, you constantly have to give it gas, kind of like a stick. Every other car that I have driven is the opposite in that they tend to creep along too fast.

Your thoughts...

I noticed the exact same thing when I took one out for a test drive. I didn't think to much of it cause the car I'm use to driving now idle's to high anyway. I saw somewhere on another thread in here something about the e-brake not being fully disengaged which doesn't sound good. I hope that's not really the case and this is just normal and harmless because it's not something I minded at all.

the e-brake thing scaries me... but i dun have a 3....
shoot me if im forced to get a matrix
we should just shoot you for the idea of mentioning the matrix...J/K but seriously...same thing for the 6 where when you go from park to drive or park to m it revs then pulls like you were releasing a clutch....maybe it's a way to compencate for it being slow...to make myself more clear...amlost all 4 cyls are slow on initial take off...VVT doesn't take place till like 30XX rpms (look up actual rpm in a few seconds) so the car kinda revs form 780 to like 2k before starting out and once it hits the point where vvt occurs you will feel it pick up....also for manual mode....don't rev to 7K on stock internals...wait till there is a cam and gear upgrade to rev that high.
One thing that was noted for a few bad trannies on the 6 was in drive in traffic the tranny would shift eraticly as if you were getting rear endded. see dealershif if that occurs.

Just picked up our new 3 today! It's for me and my fianc so it's an auto as she's not experienced with a stick and we live on a steep hill. 5 speed would be fun but hey so is this and I'm completely stoked. But anyway, back to the topic here. I've driven a lot today but the funny thing is I haven't notice if it's doing this or not. Mostly I was in the manual mode, also, I guess I'm still in a bit of a state of shock because this is so much of a jump up from what we were driving before that it's just all good!
