HI. Has anybody done a auto to manual tranny swap? I am thinking about doing this in the near future. I know i need a manual trans, clutch, pedal cable.. will i need a sensor of some kind?? any thoughts would be good(hear ya)

it would be easier to just buy a manual and sell the auto. its wayyy to much hassle. you would spend about 2k if not more just to swap it i believe.

thats like if you do it yourself, i think its been said to be way more if you have it done for you. either way dude its just not worth it. this has been discussed quite a bit. if you would search you could prolly find alot more information

You may also need the ecu since it controls auto tranny. It will most likely freak without those signals since the manual ecu isn't expecting anything from the tranny. Much easier to just find a manual car & trade yours in for it.

Yes as a generic comment:

easier to go from manual to auto (well even then radiator, etc.)

lots of details you don't think of like CV shafts being different, engine controls, motor mounts, gear ratios

I'm thinking if you can get a detailed write-up from somebody reliable, then maybe. But Probably don't want to be a trail blazer on this one.

i've done it. you're gonna need a donor car to make it easiest. if you really wanna do it. go for it. It is easier to go from Auto to Manual. You really don't have to change much of the wiring to get the car working.

i dont understand why people act like swapping the manual in is all that big of a deal.

I've done it and i've given help to 2-3 others who did it. It takes all of a weekend if you have everything bought you'll need.

And i only had $500 in everything. i just kept asking people who were parting out a wrecked car to sell me everything i needed for $500, and finally someone said yes. Shipping was another $165 i believe.

If you have have a car that you've done a lot to already, then yes i say go for it. If you have a pretty plain car and are doing it for the gas mileage then just buy a different one.
