australian group buy only

making up a custom boot isnt that difficult. i made mine out of kangaroo leather. looks great! dont have pics at the moment because i'm not at home. cost me $20 for the off cuts of leather and 2 hours work (i'm not so good on the sewing machine)

Hey twilight may give emu leather a go like the look of emu but i know that i am no good at sewing.

(rockon)

not a bad idea....to be honest i'm just glad my fiancee knows her sh!t about sewing. she helped me a lot.

the reason i chose kangaroo is it's twice as strong as cow leather for the sam thickness...so that allowed me to have the leather slightly thinner...much easier on the sewing machine

Over at astina gt, theres also a few others wanting to get the short shifter

http://www.astina gt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1719

Maybe a group buy is in hand to get a good price!!

sounds good to me :) send a few of those guys over to this forum and i'll see what i can do. I'd rather do it through here as i'm quite well known with the yanks...

i've imported so many things from america over the years i have a pretty good system worked out (and shhh....no import duties of gst hehehehe)

off topic - maybe i should join up to astina gt one of these days (and make my nights twice as long reading and replying to posts)

This site is much better site than astina gt.
the record for most users online is 12!!!!this was back in May!I should get them to come here instead.

Whats the go with gst, and import duties coz theres a lot of confusion over this area.

is it true that as long package doesnt contain some kind of invoice, no duties or gst can be charged by customs???

i just posted an "introducing twilightprotege" thread on astina gt. i was already a member! (joined 19 october 2003...and that was my 1st post).

that's good that you find this site better :D

well...the go with gst etc...it actually depends on how you send the item. usps somehow doesnt seam to go through the same customs proceedures as other companies. i have never paid gst or import duties when shipping via usps (most i spent was $900usd...and that was when the aussie dollar was 0.49). UPS i've paid import duties and gst...

and as well to that, gst and import duties are only charged when the item is more than $400aud (at the moment). will be raising to $1000aud shortly i believe. so if the invoice works out to be less than that no duties no matter who you ship with....but if you do a dodgy and have the item amount less and it goes missing? the insurance cover on the postage (if you select it ofcourse) will only pay the amount you wrote on the export slip thingie.

i will post a pic once i unwrap my new camera. sssh not supposed to know. shifter cost me about $140au, shipped. they were having a sale a few months ago and i took advantage of it. anyways i have been looking closely at a wrexy in auburn so i might be selling soon.

Just while we are "off topic" on this place vs astina gt, they both have their place.

The "on the ground" community at astina gt is real good.
This place is better for nuts and bolts for sure though.....and ideas that hit my wallet :)

does well with hitting my wallet....
at least there are cheaper ideas around too

i need the short shifter, count me in
