dash kit/harness.

anything forgotten? was gonna do a custom enclosure on the sub. but it's too involved. sub too heavy. just about a .98 cubic foot sealed box for now. nothing to trick of an install. just gonna try and stage the front component set to get best possible sound.

only thing i dont see is sound deadening. any input is appreciated.

IMO i would change the deck the dash kits look nasty and cheap plus out stock radios made or dash... 2nd u loose the info bar on top unless you get it done right! instead of a deck get a double-din! Pioneer has great prices on some nice 7inch

It's all good quality stuff and will probably be fine..

I would also echo Franco and suggest a double DIN dash as being more appealing. I went with the Kenwood DNX because of it's ratings and the fact that it uses Garmin for GPS. I've heard about lots of unhappiness with the Pioneers.

FWIW, I had a CHA-S3634 and it's a very solid little changer. Speaking of changers, I am disappointed the Kenwood doesn't have provisions for a changer.

Lastly, your cable kit might be overkill.... I have similar amounts of power and 4GA was the recommended size for that, although I ended up pulling 2GA since that's what I had laying around. I hear the 0Ga will fit thru the white disc behind the glovebox, but it's gotta be nasty tight.

*TIPS* on getting the cable thru there... cut as much that nub off a possible. It looks easier to push from inside the car to the engine bay, bad idea... there's a good chance you'll pull the grommet loose from the disc and it's an SOB to get back on. Push from the engine bay into the care. Use some kind of lube (someone suggested soapy water) as you pull the cable thru, it'll be easier and lessen pulling the grommet loose.

as for a screen..thought about it...

couldnt afford it at the time...wanted to keep my budget under 2k for raw parts...went over that....

gonna get a screen in spring...build a custom enclosure for sub...toss the headunit in my other car..just want it in the car for now...

defman,

i've used audio control in the past. thought about it. how much better is it for adjustability. i'm already over budget...so might as well..if it's worth it. :D

I love having an EQ, always have. You can all the best stuff in a car but if those speakers don't suit the acoustics of the car then it'll sound like s***. EQ's can help that...

If budget's an issue, and it usually always is, then consider used/refurb or waiting another few weeks or month for the $$ to do what you really want. Try not to justify buying something you don't really want just because it was cheaper. My DNX is a refurb and cost $560 and I'll guess you could get used EQL's on eBay for less than $100... heck you can get Kicker KQ30's for $170 all day long, swinging deal for a 1/3 octave EQ! If I can't tame mine with the EQL then I'm going with the KQ30. RTA coming Tuesday, so we'll see....
