Audio install meet sat. 9/6

chris, i'll just install tha amp to the floor for now...need to think through the bracket thing on sat.

For a pair of 10"s you'd need something that puts out between 300-800w RMS. For example, this amp will put out 325w at 4ohms and is on sale. However it all depends on the subs you have and what impedence (ohms) they are. Some 10"s can handle 150w, others can handle 1000w. Most amps have on-board crossovers so you don't have to worry about a separate one.

Cool ty!

the box has 2 JL Audio 10W-08, 125 watts, 8 ohms

Since they are 8ohm speakers we'll need to bridge the amp, correct?
you can wire 8ohm speakers in parallel and get 4ohm at the amp... so you need an amp that can produce your desired power range at 4ohm. bridging a 2-channel amp will often get you there.

Ok. I've got an idea that would require a few carriage bolts, washers, and nuts. Basically we can sandwich two pieces of MDF on either side of the bar and clamp them down with the bolts. Then we mount the amps to the top piece and voila, a floating amp rack!

We'll have lots of people standing by to help since it appears there aren't many other projects. Oleg can probably get started on wiring and the front door speakers while I work on the sub box. I've got scrap MDF that we can use for everything. Amanda will be happy to see me use some of it so it isn't sitting in the basement.

Ah that's right, running parallel. It's been awhile.

Hello!

I'm Scott from rx8club.com. Altspace told me about this site so I signed up hoping to join in the meet to look at some audio install. Please tell me if there is any space available for an extra car in your meet. I'm going to browse around the site in the meantime. Thanks

Welcome Scott. Tell us a bit more about yourself, location, do you work? Any mods to the 8? I think we may have extra room.

welcome! sure, we have a large driveway and on street parking (dead end)....come on by!

Sure thanks.

About me. I graduated college last year and still looking for a real career. I haven't really done anything to my RX-8 because I haven't really gotten the time to do anything because of the bills I have to pay. But I'm a pack-rat so I horde all this bolt-n parts that will probraly never see the light of day. I guess that goes for all car enthusiast though. (wink)

I'm going to try to make it down there Satuarday in the afternoon because I have work early in the morning. Please PM me an addy and start time. TIA Laters

All set for this rain or shine 9:00AM right?

I'll bring some beer!

I broke my car last night -- hit a road bump (one of those grooved pavement to normal pavement transitions) that was really harsh and it bent my right side tie rod. The alignment is all FUBAR'd. So the car is in the garage, but I'll be hitching a ride with Marc (Zelse).
