Fourthmeal, very well put in your explanation. When it all comes down to it, it's the installation. Sound deadening, proper amp tuning, proper wiring and a quality built box will make the most difference.

I am actually running an OE integrator called the MTX RE-q. It is an awesome piece. It has a front L/R pre-out and subwoofer pre-out. My system sounds pretty good, however, it will never match the quality of a good aftermarket head unit.

I pretty much agree except for some Pioneer Premier components and their amps. They've done well and somewhat vindicated themselves with the TS-C720 and the Euro-components. We don't get them, but they are AMAZING according to some overseas friends. They also have done great with the ICEpower (B&O technology) amps. I own one, and have installed many. Perfect.

Sony, however, should stick with other types of electronics...and the car audio department should be completely destroyed and rebuilt with quality and integrity, as well as tasteful style.

I was at best buy one time and heard the sales guy really talking up the Sony amps... the other amps available being JBL, Rockford, and Infinity. I just looked at him.. shook my head.. and laughed. He asked why I Laughed.. he said the NEW Sony amps were the best amps he has ever seen.. I asked what makes the new ones better then the old ones...

His reply: "The heatsinks are bigger now, so they make more power".

I laughed again, pointed, laughed, and left.
