3 sets of stoplights on an empty stretch of Las Vegas Road

P5 = Just an Injen CAI

Audi A4 wagon = Intake ( from what I could hear ) ... Exhaust ( some fart can looking thing ) .... and oddly enough, I could hear a BOV " Pssshhh"ing as he shifted ( do the A4 wagons come in turbo ? )

regardless... don't know what he has due to the fact that he didn't bother stopping after the third time, and hung a right turn at the light.

..... I actually don't like racing, (hence why I bought a P5 and not something with more Pep), but this twit just had a Smug look on his face as we sat at the first light side by side. Light turned green and I could hear him "pushing" his car , so I decide to see if I can hang and surprisingly, started pulling away .....at this point I'm not sure if he really wanted to race, but his car was going through High Revs and getting louder and louder yet I was still pulling away.

Pull up to the 2nd light , I glance over, and he has this determined look on his face.... so I think .." Ok, street's deserted .... no side streets for cops to hide in.. should be safe " .... light turns green ... we both launch ... no wheel spin ( guess we're both driving automatics/sport shifts =p ) .. and AGAIN, I pull away .... Same thing with the third light where he decides to hook a quick turn and disappear into the night ..

now, what I want to know is , am I Imagining things ?.... shouldn't he have handed me my arse over and over again ?
I know for a fact that he was trying ... so it wasn't a gimme ..*Shrug* ... am I missing something here ?

p5: 130 hp/ 2750 lbs = .0047 hp/ lbs fwd.

so id say its about an even match up. nothing id call BS on. good kill.

yes the a4 avants come with either a 1.8 4cyl is a turbo, depending on yr they come with either a 1.8t,2.8(na), 3.0(na), s4 2.7 bi turbo.

the one you were racing was probally a 1.8t.

i know the new ones are rated at 170 or 180, but the older ones only have 150hp.

The 1.8T is the same engine that went into the Jetta and Golf for a few years...even the TT....it was never designed to carry the weight of the A4 Avant in a straight line. True wagons need at least a V6.

Anyway, watch out for the S4s. They have a much better power/weight ratio.

Yes its true, at 150 hp, 3200 lbs my A4 1.8t is a slow pig, around 10 second 0-60, 1/4 mile in 17.6 with tiptronic (5MT is a lot faster) but with a 400 dollar chip old 1.8ts get bumped to 200hp 243tq, and newer ones to 214hp 247tq from increasing boost from .5bar to 1.0bar which is more than enough to haul some ass. chips should be the first mod done on all turbo audis... so that guy was probably just an idiot. also dont mess with the S4... 250 hp base twin turbo v6, My dad has his chipped which brings it to 318hp 382tq (believe it) and it can easily chirp all 4 wheels from a stop if you launch right, 0-60 in the high 4 second range and quarter mile in the high 13s. as soon as I find a pile of money lying around im getting chipped, but for now i have to spend all my cash on maintinence and repairs...
