Attention Racing Beat Cat Back Owners

I have searched and searched this forum and cannot find a SINGLE sound clip for the Racing Beat catback. I have seen many people ask for one, but they have never received on.

When I say Racing Beat Catback, I do NOT mean the mazdaspeed axle back. I don't mean the MP3 exhaust or any MazdaSpeed muffler of any kind. I am refering to the full stainless steel, 2.375" system that is on the Racing Beat website for $449.00. It is made for the P5 and Protege, but the P5 tip is shorter.

I would love it if someone who owned a Racing Beat to post a sound or video clip. I really want to hear it for myself. I have heard that it is quiet. I want my exhaust to be loud enough so that it is easily noticeable, but not too loud that it breaks sound ordinances. It is hard to determine the sound level of an exhaust by just hearing what people say about it. Like I have said, I have heard that it is barely noticeable over the stock exhaust. So please, if you know of a clip, point me in that direction. If you have a clip, please post it. I would appreciate it VERY much. I really love this exhaust system and would love to hear it before I make a decision.

On that note, I am sure that many other people will appreciate a clip as well. Thanks.

A guy I work with has a Miata RB catback and it sounds SOOOO good! I want one for my P5, but $449 is too much.

It is cheaper elsewhere. Like Racing Extreme = $430 shipped. Protege5online.com = $460 shipped. Racingbeat.com = $487 shipped.

On that Miata RB, is it quiet? Or is it still easily noticeable at idle? I guess it really doesn't matter, being as how it is the Miata, not the P5. Oh well.

I think it would be comparable. The design features of the Miata exhaust should be similar to the Proteg.

I think it sounded awesome! It was just a little louder than stock, but by no means was it loud enough to be annoying. I like the sound pitch, too. Sorta deep and music-like.

So was it really noticeable from outside the car? What about from inside the car? I like the performance gain, I just want to make sure that it is a good, loud enough sound. I know that it has good pitch (it is deep) but I have no idea what the volume is.

Without a sound clip, I'm not sure how to help you. It is deep, and loud enough that you notice it in the cabin, but it isn't intrusive. Only gets really loud above 4 grand. I can still hear my intake over it when accelerating.

All in all, it's a great exhaust. Souds great, and easy to live with.

**** racing beat. I ordered a catback p5 about 5 months ago and when I received it, they didn't send the damn resonator. They've been saying forever that I received it and just want another. bulls***. Also, the tip came with a dent in it, along with others that bought from them. Hope the company has a fire and goes out of business.

i have one of the first ones they made, its very quiet to me in comparison to the other exhausts i have seen on this car

its not "barely" louder than stock. its at least 2.5-3x times deeper than stock. you notice it outside the car. if someone drove by with one youd hear it. i say buy it.

Thanks for the input, that helps me a lot. How does it sound at idle (after the engine is warmed up)? Thanks to everyone for their input, keep it coming. I'd appreciate sound clips, but if you don't have one don't hesitate to comment on the sound like NJP5Guy did. Also, post up pics if you have them, that doesn't hurt me. Post pics especially if you have the RB on a yellow P5. Thanks!!!!

Inside the car when it's idling, it sounds almost like stock, the noise being deeper, but not louder.
I find it gets louder with more people in the car since the engine is under a greater load.

Are you worried that it'll be too loud or not loud enough?

Here's a short video FunkyBuddha did today of the RB catback. This wasn't revving to redline, but you get the idea.

I was kind of leary about getting the RB catback too, since everyone says its so freaking quiet. I was expecting it to be pretty close to stock, but i was wrong. When people say its deep/low sounding, they arent kidding. Everyone i take for a ride falls in love with the sound of the exhaust. It's SUPER low and bassy sounding, but its not loud. When you're gunning it, it sounds really nice and deep and gets quite a bit louder than stock. When you're outside the car, its much louder than stock, but is far from unpleasant or disruptive.

I'm thinking of slappin together a video for you guys since I was wondering what the hell it sounded like for the months that i was thinking about getting the exhaust. I'll try to have an idling part, an interior run and an exterior run.

This is what I've been telling people all along. The RB just sounds ******* awesome end of story. For those who don't have it, buy it now. You won't regret it. (cool) (boobs2)

what does it sound like at highway cruise?
I used to have a Mazdaspeed axleback on my P5 and it had a nasty drone sound to it at around 2500-3500 rpm.

Is it anything like that?

There can be a really mild drone around 3000 rpm, but nothing like what you're thinking of. I've had plenty of people comment that they normally hate exhaust systems on cars like this, but mine isn't bad at all. If I was buying again, I'd still buy the RB even at twice the price.

Highway cruise is NOTHING like that Mazdaspeed. I don't even notice it, really.

I would love a RB cat back for the sound. Too bad cat backs are a waste of performance money considering there are no real gains and all the SS piping just adds extra weight to the car.

Would love to see someone prove me wrong with dyno results that are actual and not something published by RB. If you can I will go out and buy the RB CB immediately!!!

This is not a request to be flamed nor am I flamming those who enjoy a good CB exhaust, I am just speaking from experience.

2x the price is a little extreme....but id buy it again too.
