I would love a RB cat back for the sound. Too bad cat backs are a waste of performance money considering there are no real gains and all the SS piping just adds extra weight to the car.

I wouldn't say there are no real gains....they are there, it's just not astronomical. I noticed more passing power in 5th, and the motor just breathes better (Less jerkiness in 1st gear).

Would love to see someone prove me wrong with dyno results that are actual and not something published by RB. If you can I will go out and buy the RB CB immediately!!!

This is not a request to be flamed nor am I flamming those who enjoy a good CB exhaust, I am just speaking from experience.

i would trust their dyno results more than others....the numbers seem honest. for them to say just over 4hp and 5lbft tque and not something like 10-12hp etc seems very reasonable to me. not sure how much it weighs. i would think it'd less than the stock one since the stock is probably made with cheap heavy materials. has anybody weighed the stock exhaust vs the RB?

The RB weighs 44lbs total (UPS told me when they brought it to my door). It's heavier than stock.

i've heard the P5 RB on the above car.. it's SWEEEET.. nice low rumble, no droning when in the car.. it's nice.

but thats with packaging too. mine had a big box stuffed w/ stuffing(had to be at least 3-5lbs of packaging if not more. how much is stock.

I've got the 2 stock pieces lying around in the basement but no scale to weigh them....I just lifted both, the muffler feels like about 15 lbs and the piping feels like 20 lbs. Maybe someone else still has their stock system lying around and could tell us.

As far as performance gains, go to the RB site, where they have the actual dyno graph that proves the gains of +4.7 hp and +5 ft-lbs. Look for a thread of mine "Magnaflow Dyno Is Here" (or somethuing ike that) for the Magnaflow dyno I got from magnagflow (before and after), the RB dyno, and both superimposed on each other. Both are similar but RB shows a bit better gain in low end Torque.

How does the exhaust sound at high RPM? I am afraid of it getting too high pitched. Is it deep throughout the entire rpm band?

Hey good to hear lots of imput on this subject.

I guess my point is that for 4hp is it worth the extra weight added to the car? Maybe...If that jerkiness in 1st is less noticable then it is probably worth it for that alone.

Ace P5...sorry to thread jack you brotha...but to try and help you, I say get the RB if you want a better sounding exhaust then the stock one with slight increases in power. The only other way to find out if you like it or not is arrange a meet with some fellow P5'ers and MSP'ers and see if one of them with the RB exhaust will take you for a spin.

But I think the exhaust is a good place to start, you really need it if you want to do other mods.

Anyone know what the RB sounds like to redline? Is it deep or is it higher pitched?

It never gets high pitched. A lot of exhausts are really loud at certain RPMs, then they get quieter at higher RPMs and things like that, but the RB seems to get louder and louder the harder you push it and the higher you rev. When I say louder i just mean bassier and audibly louder. It never sounds nasty or crappy, it always sounds deep, clean and pleasant.

I gave NetGuy 2 vids. One was jsut a normal rev. The other vid is all the way up to redline. It's not high pitched at all!!! Deep sounding all the way

I think it sounds a lot better in the first clip, but you have definitely erased any doubts in my mind that the exhaust is not loud enough. It definitely is noticeable. Thanks for your help. Do you have any other clips (i.e. of your car driving around/taking off, or interior sound clips)?

Oh yeah, were those clips taken when you only had the RB on the car? Or did you have other stuff, like an intake or headers?

I don't have any other clips as far as sound is concerned...

Just believe me, if you like the sound outside the car, you'll like it inside the car.

As far as other mods, I do have an intake, but I don't think it's really noticable when the car isn't under load. The RB would sound about the same either way.

It sounds much better in real life (no offense - the clips helped a lot)......you won't be dissapointed.
