QTP or Quicktime Performance, the makers of the electric cut-out, might be interested in making either a downpipe (elbow) or a straight pipe (after-elbow) depending on our interest and price for the stock MSPs.

Depending on the style (straight or dp) price ranges from $450-$550 (this fall withing the range of the SRT4 and WRX pricing). R&D would take about 2-3 months and we need 20 people to sign up. This thread will be monitored by QTP to gauge interest. And they would need a test car in NJ.

Sign up if interested....no slackers....you need to be true and be able to pay when requested.

Does that mean they might be able to make one before the factory cats? I live in Cali and if i can keep my stock exhaust and have this before the cats that would be great. I wont have to worry about emissions. I might be in if thats what they can do. Where are these guys located?

is it electronically opened or based on exhaust pressure or IM pressure? Is it adjustable if based on pressure? 2.5"? 3"? .. or designed to fit stock exhaust? Can it be partially open, or is it an on/off thing?

edit: my mistake, just reread it's electric. Does the dump part have a flange for mounting a side pipe? I'm thinking "dual exhaust"..

maounting a pipe to it defeats it's whole purpose. If you want a dual exhaust then why would you have it on a valve like that? Anyways dual exhaust is pointless on an I4 turbo IMO.

susscribing.... in therory i will have money,,, we can get the cut out by it self right...

peeps: not really - adding on a 3" straight pipe extension with no cats, resonators, or mufflers, won't defeat the purpose of this valve, but it will put the exhaust gasses where you want them. When it's not in use, stock exhaust will keep it nice and quiet and not attract attention from the cops.

It would "Look" like dual, but really would be two singles.. one LOUD as hell and max performance, the other for daily driving.

If it can be partially open, you can treat the valve as a releif valve based on throttle position or vacuum or even rpm - so the valve opens as the need to rid the car of exhaust increases over what the nice quiet stock system can handle. thus, when cruising on the highway it's closed - no need for it. But downshift to pass and mash the throttle and the valve opens up and you have all the power the little I4 can make.

actually, i believe the qtec opens by means of an electric motor. a switch mounted inside the cockpit allows u to control the position of the butterfly valve. it's not really a dual exhaust, just an electric cutout.

i've been looking into these instead of getting an S-pipe. this would work just as well.

subscribing for now.

I'm in jersey and i meet the guy who owns Qtp before they can use my car for test p.m me the info needed

Im interested but I dont know if I could wait that long for the dp! might have to just buy the qtp it self and get a custom pipe made

Is this going to be for strictly MSPs? I have a DX sedan, but have had my eye on one of these QTP cutouts for quite some time now. The cutout I had before didn't work for me because it was cast iron and wouldn't weld onto my setup. Im looking to purchasing the HiBoost DP and MAM midpipe with Hi-flow cat. Im still waiting on a price for that. Depends on how much that set-up is and how much this QTP straightpipe setup with cutout will be.

Yes, only MSPs and only for stock set-up or one that still utilizes the factory piping.

Shouldnt, since you will still have a catalytic converter....if it does it might be when you open the exhaust....then either use a sparkplug fouler to fool the computer (real cheap at AutoZone) or use a resistor in the O2 wiring. Either way its easy and cheap to do. But it should pass inspection since the cat still there.
