should have got the mazda speed, should have waited untill they make a mazda speed p5 or until the six wagon comes out, I'll never buy another car again unless it has s*** loads of power stock.
That tends to happen when you buy a car classified as a compact-commuter-car when you really wanted a sports-car.

My plan is to keep my P5 as a going-back-and-forth-to-work car and in a few years I'll buy a joy-ride car that will have some horses under the hood.

I agree with Chuyler1. If you wanted something with more power, you should've thought about that when you test drove it. That being said, this car has an emormous potential in aftermarket mods. I myself feel that it's low on power, but I know that I don't have to spend more than 1,000 to make it where I want it to be.

Oh, and let's not forget the fact that this car can outperform most others in twisties w/o a problem. It doesn't like driving straight! And it looks better than others, too!

i have had my p5 for 8 months now and still al i got is a lowering springs ( teins). Anyways i like the p5 but not as much as i like the rsx or the wrx wagon but i couldn't afford them so i got the p5. Anyhow i see people here shooting NOS and boosting their p5's but how about the warranty? I have 6,800 miles w/ 75,000 mile warranty just incase i do shoot 60 shot NOS and blow up my motor. Can i just pulled out the nos kit and send it to the dealer for a free engine?

1 more thing i was just reading some of the posts here some of u guys said that u can put 400hp on the car hmm.... I know u can but how about the reliability of the car? i want to atleast hit 14.5 w/ full interior and street tires, but still be reliable cuz i drive this car to far places ( long drivin vehicle ) and i dont want to get stuck in the middle of the road out of no where....

i have my 323 for my daily drive and race once and a while but i cant drive it far bcuz its frickin loud n not comfortable thats y i bought the p5 but i would like my p5 to keep up w/ the other 200 hp vehicles on the streets so just incase i need to race i will have something to back up its looks.

Seriously, grow up. Do you really need to show up some punk you have never seen before, and will never see again, by beating him/her off the line at a stop light? If you want to race, go to a track.

ok.

when u live some where like i do. if u want to twist race u have to street race but when it comes to drag we got a track. for what the car is it prety quick. in a straght line civics will smoke ur ass normally but when u hit the turns mustangs cant even stay up. so the p5 is more of a handling car than a speed car. just if u gonna race a p5 make sure u some where with little or no straights and a lot of turns. in reality thats the only place imports can keep up with a mustang or anything like that without a major pocket book.

protege5

I have a 03 protege5 all i did so far was an aem short ram intake and a borla exhaust system on it. Im still decidiing what else i want to do ive already redone the whole sound system. New pioneer double dim headunit goin in. Infinity 6800cs in front and 6002i 6 1/2 in the rear. Single infinity 10"sub and a rockford 401s amp to boost. As far as body work im trying to find a good full body kit for it. But havent seen anything that has caught my eye yet. If anyone knows of one let me know.

Hmmm...the P5 definitely isnt a race car. I knew that when I bought it. But I did need a reliable car...the fast car/unreliable car is my Z.

Having said that, there is nothing wrong with modding your P5. I'm a car enthusiast. I love to mod cars. I will probably never own a car, that I will not have done some modification to. I will be doing CAI and exhaust, after only owning the car for a week or two. It'll give it a little more gusto, but not make it a sports car. That will be enough for me. It's fun to drive as it is. The rest of my money will go to the Z :) Just my 2 cents.

What'd I'd love to see is a wishlist with a limit. What would you guys do to your P5's to get the most power (and without blowing a piston out the hood) for under $1k? Sadly, the only mods on my P5 are a Sony MP3 stereo and a K&N air filter. BTW: If you want a good price (~$30 shipped) on a K&N air filter, check out http://www.ajusa.com.

nitrous is the closest thing to fourth of july with your pistons...once you hit that switch their gonna go strait through the hood.

i suggest cams...if you know how to install it your lucky cuz labor is gonna cause you...but anyone that knows how to install cams that its a b**** because the timings need to be right and it takes time...the cams will help your motor to be stronger

if not focus on the stability...if anything you want control over your car...a lot of people know the p5's are slow...but they don't know how well a person can drive his car...i'v taken gsr's to gsx's in the highway because of people that don't know how to drive through traffic..

headers...etc....i would focus on building your motor and making it stable

Yeah because everyone knows that nitrous will destroy your engine even if you set it up correctly... Yeah maybe if you throw in a 150 shot without giving it any fuel..

I ran a very large dry shot of nitrous on my 88 Mustang GT and never had problems at all. If you add fuel to the nitrous I'm sure you could get at least a 50 shot with your P5.. With that reasoning ANY F/I system will blow your engine...

If you know what you're doing you should be okay. Just as well off as if you were running turbo or FI. If you don't know how to tune your car for nitrous, leave it up to the experts to set it up.

Nitros is not the (laugh) DEVIL!!

It has been used for close to 50 years as a power adder and if used properly with a good dose of precautions, there will be no problem. Just as was stated, if you add a 150 shot to a 2.0 L engine, there better be alot more done to the engine than a CAI and a FARTCAN Exaust Can.(poke)
