Let me try to explain a little better then.
My numbers look like this
Lets say you are painting the numbers and you can only use your brush once to trace the numbers out you need to make sure your brush is at least 1.25" for the numbers and at least .75" for the letters.
when you make a 1 the width of the skinny part needs to be at least 1.25"
When you make an 8 all the lines you use need to be at least 1.25".
When you make an E for your class like you see in my numbers then all the lines on it need to be at least .75"
If you make your numbers bigger than 8" then the stroke width might need to get bigger. If your numbers are 13" tall (I dont know why they would be but lets say they are) then your stroke width would need to be 1.3"(10%) instead of 1.25 inches
for your letters if you make them 8" tall then you would need to have a .8"(10%) stroke width instead of the standard .75"
Also your numbers and letters need to be different sizes so that is why the 25% to 75% rules.
If you made all your letters and numbers 8" and you ran something like number 15 in DS your number could look something like this. 15DS now from a distance is that 150S ? or 15DS ?
So your class letters/numbers need to be smaller than your run numbers (somewhere between 25% and 75% of the size of them) so they can tell them apart.
I tried to attach a paint image with the stroke width on it I dont know if it attached or not.
