Last weekend me and the wife made one last trip before the holidays and the little dude arrives. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures and recommend that this little trip, in our opinion, was a good time. On our way down we jumped off Interstate 40 at the Waynesville exit, took a right and shortly thereafter we jumped on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Thursday: We averaged between 27 & 30mpg in the Mazda3 and it was an absolute blast on the curvy roads. The manual mode was great for keeping the car in 3rd or 4th gear in tight corners or long downhills.

Dinner that night was at Ruth's Chris since we had a gift card someone had given us. The food was great. I had posted a picture on Facebook and our friends who we travel with a lot (Hawaii last year) rang us to say they were currently on their way to Asheville. Crazy.

The next day, Friday, we went to the Biltmore. All I can say is "wow". (boom01) I could tell we only saw about 2/3rds of the house, but I think what we didn't see were smaller rooms that were probably empty or possibly full of seasonal decorations. Go and see it. They don't allow pictures in the house.

Dinner one night was at Tupelo Honey Cafe and the black bean cake appetizer was to die for.

On Saturday we drove down to Chimney Rock and hiked up the stairs.

Then we drove over to Montreat, near Black Mountain to hike with our friends.

On Sunday we drove home, stopping by my parent's house in TN because my Grandparents decided to drive in from Nebraska for one of their typical surprise visits.

Get out and do something. :D
