Ok this past Friday I got on the phone with Vortech and got to asking about the Charger on the Wings west MP3. So they gave me the number to the company that installed and tuned it.

I spoke with a guy by the name Chuck that was giving me all kinds of great info on the charger they installed for the MP3. He told me that it would be 7,000 to 8,000 dollars for the charger, and the reason is becuase they have installed only two. Now if people starts to buy them then the kit will goto around 2800 to 3,500 dollars.
He told me that he would not send the kit, that I would have to ship my car to CA and leave it for about 2 months because they are busy. With in that cost of 7,000 to 8,000 will include upgraded internals that are needed, and it will be tuned for three days straight to make sure it is effecient. From what I see out of this we should all call and make intrest in this product so they will mass produce and get the price done.
The number to this company is 805-278-3841, just try and get them thinking that we are going to be wanting this product. Thanks!(drinks)

damn i would love to do that if i had the money. how much power are they pulling out of it. and what internals do they upgrade, what about fuel. sorry for the questions. but damn 2 months. guess ill have to wait and see.

Ahhhh, the "turbo/super" debate. Second only in the history of great debates to "tastes great/less filling."
;)

The wings mp3 is a show car! I doubt it was built with optumum eficintse (check spelling)in mind.
I think a turbo would be a better way to go all together but s/c's are so cool

I wouldn't necessarily call our MP3's and P5's high revving vehicles.
Any 4cyl is a high revving engine. Do you know the redline of a V8? It's around 5000 to 6000. A 6cyl is closer to us at around 6500, but 4cyl engines are always around 7000 to 8000. I'm not sure why you wouldn't call that high reving. I'm not talking about motorcycles here that go to 10,000, that is a whole different catagory that can't be compaired to a car.

Turbos are better in every aspect except 1! Linear torque curves. Hell if I wanted that I would have gotten a BIG BURLY V8(doh)

Coming from the Honda crowd, I just can't consider my MP3 high revving. My EX Civic rev'd past 8000rpms and that is what I could consider high revving. Most of the power on the FS motor is in the mid range and down low so, they're not exactly high revving motors. Where as Honda's "traditionally" have their power on the top of the rev band, therefore, I label high revving. So, in short, what I am trying to say is that my definition of high revving is 8000-9500 rpms like the Honda motors. Sorry for the misunderstanding there

I think our car are high revving engines, cause if you take a look at the cavalier and sunfire 4-cyclinder engines they only rev to like 5500-6200rpms also the VW jetta's rev at 6500rpms. so technically i could say our little 2.0litre engines rev pretty high, also it can go to 7000rpms where the fuel cut off is at. I say that's pretty damm Decent. And the redline on a 92-95 Civic EX is at 7200rpms and fuel cut off is at 7500rpms so i don't know how u got it there, and i ain't saying i don't believe you but just wondering:rolleyes: how you got there.:)

I've been trying to get a hold of the guy at Area 51 to ask him some questions, but everytime I call I can never speak with him.

But, my personal feeling about centrifugal superchargers is they combine the bad parts of s turbo with the bad parts of of super charger.

That being lag time of the boost for the turbo for the lower boost abilities of the supercharger.

I'd much rather see a roots type blower for the Protege. The torque needs to be down low, with the boost.

Even the guy at Flying Miata agrees with the guy from area 51 that a roots blower will produce more heat and will almost if not always make the car seem like it is going to over heat. Im just stating what these guys are saying.(scratch)

lets meet at a bar and found out. :D
Ooh, a date!;) Kidding. We can keep drinking until we start saying "tastes filling, less great." Then you know you've had enough.

either that or we will be "Tastes less, filling great" (i.e tasting less, and felling great)

My 02 specV
2.5l I4, redline 6200, Feul Cut of 6250.

V6 M3's go 7000+ rpms as do V8 M5's and Ferrari's.

I think SC's are good if your car doesnt have low end tq.

I agree that 4 bangers taste great and V8's are less filling. But bring your V6 to my bar and we'll see how high-revving your fuel cut off is.

Totally, guys, I couldn't agree more.

That's not accurate. If your car already doesn't have any low rpm torque, why would you put something on it that is going to take even more lowend torque away. It takes engine power to turn that pulley. A turbo is using energy that is being wasted anyway. That's why lots of V8's use superchargers instead of turbos, they have plenty of torque to spare.
