didn't know where else to ask ...

if you walk into a restaurant but want to order something to go, are you supposed to tip the person?

thanks.

not really, but if you get real good service or your food comes faster than expected then i dont see why i wouldnt give them my coin change into the little tip jar they got.

it's a growing trend i'd say....hell, i sell popcorn to people at a movie theater for $5 and sometimes i even get tips.

I don't think it's necessary. You tip someone for their service over a period of time.

Like waitstaff/barstaff, where you get served over the course of your meal or the time at the bar.

Or a cab driver who drives you all the way across the city which takes 30 minutes.

etc

I was at a denny's up north a little while back and really liked this one waitress, even though she wasn't ours I walked up to her and gave her a tip. The next time I went in there she walked up to me and gave me her phone number.

What about at Sonic? I've never even thought about tipping them, until my G/F mentioned it.

mmmn, sonic... now I want some... and yeah, I usually tip a bit at Sonic...... poor girls out in the cold
