Hahaha! The car is actually for my sister. But, I really am tempted because my fiance needs a car to drive too. But I like the car too much, plus, I don't want to lose any out on trading it or selling it. Btw, $28000 was what we settled at. They wanted $28900 (MSRP)! There was no way. Plus, the car is so popular now that if you really expected to get more than a grand off then you may be shopping for a long time. We actually got down to $28285 and they let us walk after about 2 hours of haggling. It's almost like poker, you have to know when to fold 'em (walk in this case).

I live in US and got my 2006 Mazda3 S Touring 5-door manual last Friday. I paid it $17,100 plus sales tax (5% here in Massachusetts). The MSRP is $18,175 (destination charge included).

It was the only dealer I visited in person, I got other quotes via e-mail at $17,700 and $17,500. It cost me 3 hours at the dealer, but I drove away on my 3 right after we were done with the negotiation.

The sales manager didn't stop bickering about how those cars are in demand, how I was killing him with my price expectation, bla, bla, bla, but he sold me the car at the price I wanted (only $50 above invoice, by the way).

My point: negotiate as hard as you can and walk away if you are not satisfied. it's all part of the game.

I paid 21K for my 06s Hatchback GT 5speed auto, loaded the only options I did not get were Nav and the rear view mirror

Generally cars in the US are cheaper to buy than here.

Hell no!!!!!!! Well I bought my 05 GT fully loaded (minus leather) with GFX package and the grand total WITH ALL taxes came too like 24 290. However I do live in Calgary so the taxes are way cheaper here....

Yeah, the taxes are cheaper there. But was the car cheaper in '05? How much was PDI? Did you get an automatic?

My brother bought one in Calgary last year for 25500 all in with GFX and auto (minus leather).

Anyway, to me they sound like about the same deal.

No mine is a manual. So i guess there is the diff in price..
