Are our cars(msp's) as weak as people are making them out be?

last time man...he tuned for track? did he run at the track at any psi near what im runnin or tease....not to my knowledge....only 11psi and ran a 14.0 at 98 or something..i ran a 14.4 at 105mph
what tunin did he do....exhaust,mbc,fcd? anything more than what i have?
i would of liked joe to have kept that car..heh we would probably have more stuff out for us right now..
14.2@100 with a 2.3 60'. That was early on in my "playing with it" and that was 11 psi on pump gas. That was *the* night I did the main designing of the FCD, so that was the very beginning of my playing :).
Anyway, yeah, I kind of wish I kept it too. Hell, with what they are going for used, we have been toying with the idea of getting another one. Who knows..

my apologies to you old timer..lol i love sayin that to ya..
ive just never heard of you runnin higher daily..and i dont remember you mentioning it.
lol- Yup, it was daily. At least for the 2-3 weeks I had the car for between getting it setup and trading it in.. I really wish we kept it in a lot of ways. Just got tired of the "ricer" treatment whan I drove it :).

What fuel do you run? I am assuming race fuel- isn't it great how these thing run with the high boost (as long as you have the octane to handle it). Sounds like how I was driving mine around. c16 all the time and 15-18 psi- depending on what I was doing :). Yeah, WRX's are very easy prey- especially from a roll with the right "tweaks" done :).
Joe
yes they are..lol
i put 8 gals of 93 and mix with c16
a place near me just started selling 110 for 5 bucks a gal...im siked its down the street.

hey heathen23...this is about all of us..lets not make it a penis measuring contest...i am no different from tease(runnin same psi) and 505zoom(12+psi) or yashoo who is pushin 14psi from something the dealer did and runnin great as he tells us...

all im saying is yes there have been those that fell in the past(evil) but that doesnt mean that its goin to be all of us....im trying to free up some minds here.
I agree discreet. I think people love to think about how limited the car is when they don't own it...but as a owner you have to be somewhat optimistic to find those boundries. I have somewhat backed you up about running with cars that are only a second faster stock because the reality is with your mods (or for that fact just a few simple mods) would make it a drivers race. But I think you are wasting time and server space posting how you are running cars that you know will fetch 5 pissed off Mp3 owners, and 5 pissed off p5 owners which happens with every one of your "ran a xyz car" does. I'd guess even if you posted vids or dyno pulls supporting your stance you would get the same response.

Uh, I'm running around 14psi daily, too. Watch the comments or yer s*** will be deleted.
My comments? My s***? (wow) Isn't this thread nothing but a flamewar? It's not exactly productive informative data that will be benificial to current and future members of the protoge community. It's just the same few members fighting about how slow or fast this car is. I just wish these threads would go away because they do nothing to help anyone and basically serve as an embarassment to protege owners making them all look like stereotypical ricers.

DS -- the c16 you are mixing with your pump gas, is that leaded or unleaded? The only c10 i can get around here is leaded.

that was my intention when making this thread..for it to be informative and at the same time...take the fear that about 75% or more of the members have..

i would check that out. the leaded will absolutely destroy your o2 sensors. I would opt for 100 which is the highest grade unleaded fuel you can get. (well at least around ann arbor).

o2 sensors arent cheap so i would find out if the stuff you are using is leaded or not.

fugg no theyre not...like 170 something here at autozone.....
the 104 that i usually get is unleaded...good lookin out i think?

as you do me....
back on topic...

ok back on topic.

Having seen the insides of out motors first hand and having held the dinky ass stick mazda calls a "rod" i think our cars in stock trim (internal wise) are susceptible to damage. When people think about big trouble they tend to think pistons, rods block when in actuality the issue is much broader then most would like to think. Things such as oil level/pressure are very important when pushing a motor (ours specifically) to its max potential. Keeping the oil clean is also imperative. I have held a rod bearing that was welded to my crank do to a low oil circumstance. The bearing actually welded itself to my crank and then broke off the notch that held it in place. This is where i was getting my knocking sound from.

Our (msp) rods are not forged. The myth has been dispelled. Take care in boosting high without proper precautions (management, not c10). As is all circumstances some people like to play with fire. Some get burned some dont. That is the way of life. I unfortunately got burned and DS has yet to be singed.

All in all, having lost a motor, i say precaution is essential (unless you like having no car for 3 months). Play safe (aftermarket kncok sensor high octane wb02) and you *should* be ok. Not every motor is as strong as DS's so dont take what hes doing to heart becaue i assure you not all motors are as strong as his.

C16 is leaded. Chances are your cat is already gone, so that won't be a problem. Your O2 sensors won't last very long, but it is well worth it :).
