Approach to releasing CX-5 locked door (2015 KE facelift)

Are there any Mazda owners/technicians here who have experience of attempting to release a front passenger door on a CX-5 (2015). Currently will not unlock via fob or manually from inside. I have a DTC B1174:13 which is an passenger door open circuit. Because the door is locked shut, prying the inner door card panel off looks impossible to get to the lock assembly. So either I cut through the card or the auto-electrician seems to prefer removing the window and going down to break up the current assembly to release door, which makes me nervous. Thanks.

Someone else had this same issue not too long ago.Search and see if you can find the thread .

If it won't unlock from the handle inside there must be something broken on the actual latch. The inside handle is mechanical with cables to the latch. Sooo that sucks lol.

Only way to fix that is to somehow get inside the door and try to manually unlatch it. Removing the window may be one way to do it. Not sure if it's even possible to remove the interior panel with the door closed and seat in the way. So cutting/breaking stuff may be required.

Here's a vid of how the panel comes off.

Thanks for input. I have removed the door card on the driver side before to replace wing mirror so straightforward enough when you can open the door and get a pry tool around the rim.

I agree with you that the best route is cutting through the card rather than down through the window opening. Was hoping a technician on here might make it certain.

Thanks for finding this. He just went HAM on the door card. Impressive.

I think he meant to put "WHAM" :)

I seem to remember a more recent thread, and I'm thinking maybe the solution was electrical, but maybe not.

If the door has been worked on before maybe the clips will be a little easier to pop out.
