OK, Please understand that I do not know a lot about the electrical systems of our cars, BUT. When I was talking to my friend with the working SAFC2 controller he said that all he did was plug into the MAP sensor instead of the MAF sensor. Didn't make sense to me at first but then I started to think. Mind you we werent really focused on the subject at the time of the phone call. I searched the board looking to see if we had a map and came across this post by chdesign....
"Actually we do have a MAP sensor as well it is called a Boost Sensor on diagrams though. The easiest way to find it is to look at your vacuum diagram on the top of your hood. It is located in teh passengers corner of the engine bay."
So i found the diagram and it is on the passenger side of the car. I have read that the SAFC2 doesnt work because our MAF reads 0-5v and the SAFC2 runs at 5-10v. Ok, cool, but when I plug into the MAP aka Boost Sensor, the pink wire reads 5v, the orange doesnt read, and the red and blue wire reads about 3.26v and raises to ~5v when i hooked up the vacuum gauge. This is with the car nor running because it is taken apart now.
So I'm thinking that if we plug into that, someone with a little more knowlege, might be able to use that rather than the MAF. Just an idea! (shrug)
