Ok, I've looked everywhere I could to find information on this and it doesn't seem like anyone's done this yet. I know of the guys that have the "you just cut 4 wires" box for $200 or whatever it is but I'm sure it can't be that complex. I've got an EE background but need the pinouts for the GPS unit. I've asked a couple guys here who said they had the electrical books on the 3's to send me some what info they have (page scans, pdf's, anything) but no one replies.
If anyone has any information on this, please reply here. I haven't taken the unit out of the glove box yet to see what's on the back yet - that'll be this weekend - but I'd like to get as much information as I can. If/when successful I plan on posting my findings here.
