Anyone with a dog???

Yeah, my puppy is getting bigger and I'm looking for a good seat cover for the back so she doesn't destroy to rear seats and fill the car with hair. I'd like something that goes in and out easy. Anyone know of some good products that work for this?

my hatchback works great for this!
our choc lab is older and it is easier for her to jump into my cargo space then it is to use an SUV.

so get a P5!

78 lb. German Shepherd here. Leather interior destroyed... hair everywhere... Good luck!

I have a medium sized black lab with leather interior (the car, not the dog), so far after 2 1/2 years it still looks great inside!

Yeah, I have P5. Just looking for something to protect the seats. In your P5 witht he dog do you leave her in the cargo area? Seats up or down? any mats or anything in the cargo area? Thought about doing this but didn't know how it would work.

A buddy of mine used to flip the bottom seat forward and leave the seat backs up. Dog would stand on the floor and the seat bottoms would keep him from coming up front. As for hair on the seat backs, try a black fitted sheet or something of the like. Good luck.

I just put the dog in the car...then again, it is just a car to me, so I don't think about stuff like hair and protecting the seats...

i work at persmart and there are a bunch of seat covers that will work...good and not too bad of price

I have a weimaraner and she goes in the back cargo hatch. I never have the cargo cover on. It is a lot better for her than sitting on the seats because she doesn't fly off onto the floor if I have to brake hard, and whenever I take a turn she sticks her head against the back headrests to brace herself.

The back hatch is perfect for dogs. I don't use any mats or anything, I just vacuum the back out every once in a while, although my dog is short haired so maybe it would be more of an issue with longer hair breeds.

I have a 110lb boxer/lab. I have him tied off to my harness bar. lol I usually just vacuum after I take him to the vet. theres alot of room!

I get really concerned about what might happen to a dog in the hatch area if the car was involved in a rear-end collision (if the P5 was rear-ended, that is). Me, I just can't feel safe with my dog back there. Then again, she's not really buckled in at the rear seats either- but at least she wouldn't be crushed to death... Scary thoughts! Hope I (and everyone else) never have to experience anything like that!

61 lb pointer mix

I have a black & white pointer mix.

She gets loads of hair on the black interior of my 2002 P5.

I keep an old blanket in the rear of my car that I use.

I went to PetSmart this weekend and noticed a wide variety of seat covers. I also found harnesses that let you buckle your pooch into a seat belt. My poochie wasn't too fond of the harness, but it will keep her safer in case of a crash.

If you got rear ended badly enough to crush the cargo area and kill the dog that would be back there, it would be better than having that dog turn into a missile inside the car because it was in the seat right behind you. Either way, the dog is dead. The question for you is if you want your dog to also injure/kill you as it flies forward in that crash.

If you got rear ended, the dog would appear to fly backwards since the car is being pushed forwards (from the reference point of someone standing on the road). If the dog was in the back seat (as mine is) then they would rest against the back seat, not fly forward like a missile.

But in the event that the entire hatch was smashed in, it's probably a moot point.

My, my...how this thread has turned into more of a morbid discussion (doh)
