Anyone use silver/chrome roof rails?

Hi,

New CX-9 GT owner here that was so anxious I took delivery without roof rails. Many auto manufacturers have silver/chrome roof rails that would look nice on a CX-9 with chrome door handles. Has anyone found any silver/chrome roof rails from other manufacturer that fits the CX-9 such as from Infinity or Audi? Their crossovers have a similar sloping roofline.

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks for the replies. Would paint rub off with repeated use of mounting a box? I was also hoping another manufacturer would have a higher load rating than the 100 lb OE from Mazda.

Sure would. And Chrome bars would rust to crap in no time in my neck of the woods, even if used lightly. Only good as pure bling in my opinion.

Expensive Aluminum would be a solution, but the issue of the lower shear strength of the anchor bolts and roof structure remain. These are not robust to begin with.

A higher rating would at least require bigger stronger bolts, or more of them. If you get a chance to install the overpriced mazda OEM rails yourself, you'll know what I mean.

Rich- An update - there may be a metalized roofrack option coming to the Mazda 6 wagon sold in europe, so possibly to future CX-9s as well.

Interesting, thanks again. I had thought the load rating was low because of the feet being plastic, but bolt sheer strength could also be the culprit.

I found the OEM online for $195 for MY2009 (should be the same since it is the same catalog #) but couldn't add to the shopping cart. Makes me wonder if the site is legit. Ever hear of OCMazdaSpeed.com? Prices are reasonable but site doesn't work...
