Anyone think the MS3 looks stupid?

I love the MS3 in every way except the fact that its four door hatchback. Having a sedan option would be so much better. I feel like I would be driving my moms old camry station wagon.

However, the power and interior styling are very nice.

Any thoughts?

I dont' think you would pay much attention to how the car looks when ur driving a MS3. The old camry station wagon drives the way it looks. Big, slow, soft, and boring. The MS3 on the other hand looks nimble, fast and sleek. So even you're driving a "wagon" its a pretty damn good one. Not like the old camry wagon.

MS3 FTW! (first)

The hatchback was definitely the way to go....It's definitely not your moms wagon family truckster..... I always have thought the MSP was hot, but the styling on the P5 was even sportier looking....Well, we all have our opinions...Also it would not make a bit of sense to make the MS6 and the MS3 both 4 door sedans....

Totally disagree with jtom. The Mazda3 sedans are nice, but don't capture that sporty look/feel like the hatchback does.

Watch out man *tosses jtom heavy duty flame suit* This is gunna get ugly. But I do agree with you. Mazda seriously needs to take a cue from Subaru and offer it's High Powered versions in both sedan and wagon forms. I myself am a fan of hatches (thus I own a P5) but I've never warmed up to the 3 hatch looks. While I think the 3 sedan looks great. I would actually prefer an MS3 sedan to the hatch. Now if they had a Mazdaspeed6 5door...you'd have to kill me to get one before me.

Mazda: OFFER YOUR MAZDASPEEDS IN OTHER BODYSTYLES!!!!!

The station wagon steroetype just irritates me! I understand its very agile and powerful but the looks just ruin it for me.

The MS3 is such a good car and its a shame.

Then get the MS3 and put a "You just got beat by a wagon" sticker on the back. :)

lol, yea that would be funny. I just think they made a poor judgement, they should have offered a sedan model for the MS3.

Shouldnt it be less money to make the sedan?

I think the 3 sedan is just too bland to make a MazdaSpeed version.

I also really wish they'd done the MS6 in the 5-door. I love the 6 hatch, much more utility than the sedan, and almost indistinguishible by appearance.

Edit: Oh, yeah, this topic has been beaten to death over the last year or so in many, many threads.

When the MP3 and MSP came out in sedan version, a lot of us where wondering why Mazda did not bring out the wagon version.

Bland? Them's fighting words.(enguard)

The 3 Sedan is sexy from all angles except directly from the side. No other car in it's class comes close to offering such great looks AND performance. And personally I think Subaru's- especially the new Impreza griille is UGLY.

Mazda also crucified other makes in terms of interior look/feel and ergonomics. Even the new CX-7's interior is as good as many $50,000 cars.

A MS3 Sedan would be the ultimate stealth monster. Just add some upgraded head and tail lights, a bulging hoodline and fenders and you're good to go.

The boy racer look is so cheezy and ages quickly. Look at what Audi did with their S-series- subtle and classy. Nothing too flashy. (Like the impreza though, that horseshoe grille has got to go!)

I thought I read that one of the reasons Mazda went with the hatch was because the Sedan couldn't handle the power? Aerodynamics or something.

Case closed.

Oh and I'm not a fan of the 3 hatch, but I do applaud Mazda for fixing up that nose. The older nose was too angular and homely. The MS3's nose is more along the organic lines of the Sedan. And those bulging fenders and wheels do a lot to sex-up the hatch look. Defintely not a Camry wagon.

I prefer the sedan to the hatch, but the hatch has a more flared, muscular shape to it. IMO, it has a sportier "stance" than the sedan. Besides, Mazda is fighting a battle on two fronts; their trying to woo the import crowd in the states and the "hot hatch" fans in Europe.

MSP comes out everyone: "we want the hatch!"
MS3 comes out everyone: "we want the sedan!"
We can't have it everyway every time, mazda isn't as big as honda or toyota, or even mitsubishi and subaru (i might be wrong on the latter)
MS6 and MSM are the only ones that make people happy lol. I Still think the MSP is hot. The MS3 is slowly growing on me (asthetically)

Yea sorry if this topic had been addressed, I forgot to use the search function and had not posted in here for at least 6 months.

I was just reading the article on ign and the wagon did not appeal to me that much. All im saying is they should have made both sedan and hatch available. I understand that would make unneccessary competition for the mazda6 but thats what I think they should have done.

Mazdaspeed 3 doesn't look bad to me. Any imperfections about it will be forgiven due to the fact that everything else about should be great.

not necessarily..... plus if they made a sedan and a hatch then they would be like subaru, and we dont want to be like other car companies do we?

Thats cuz the MP5 is still regarded as one of the best looking wagons EVER!!!!
I mean apart from high priced Audi Wagons and Saab Sportcombis' e.t.c.

I mean an a Mazdaspeed MP5 was a no-brainer.

The 3 hatch while moderatley attractive is not regarded to be as good looking as the P5 while the 3 sedans styling is very nicely done. With a subtle aerokit and the Mazdaspeed workover the 3 sedan would be an awesome little road rocket.

You're way wrong. What mazda did was what many car copmanys don't do, and that's listen to their coustomers! People want a car that's practicle, sporty, fast and not cost an arm and a leg. Mazda did all of that by using the Mazda3. They will sell more MS3's do to the hatch. That and I think the sedan is just ugly. The hatch is just a fast looking car. But that's just me.

Exactly. Find a bridge. Get over it.
