lvmazdaspeed is running staggered Volks on 255 tires

FWD staggered is pretty common actually, especially with the new SI/Type R.

Actually I've never seen a FWD with staggered wheels except at the strip, but I'd like to see how it comes out on a ms3 though.

Here's a guy I know that is FWD staggered on a SI. It has all the Type R body pannels, lights etc. Hard to see though from the angle of the front wheels but you can see that the spokes are more concaved than the rear.

I don't know... I like the look of FWD trailor drag queens at the strip but as a dd? I don't know...

staggered wheels on a hatchback, IF done correctly, look amazing....may just be my long VW roots talking tho haha. Either way I gladly sacrifice the minuscule difference in performance for the sex appeal 
I should be getting my new wheels (18x7.5 fronts, 18x9 rear) within the next week or so, look for some tires that will fit, do alignment and have them on the car soon...
in the meanwhile, for all of you who say they never saw a staggered setup on a fwd car, enjoy the following couple pictures:

not yet. I got the wheels (http://store.discounteurowheels.com/images/GT1_L.jpg) but havent had time yet to test-fit and get tires. Hopefully i'll get everything in a week or two, tho im not in any big rush yet since vdot still hasnt fixed barely any potholes in my area from the snow. I'll post some when I put them on

Tigermack runs a 18x9.5 with 285's front and 17x9 with 245's rears for auto'x. Works good for him.

that's sort of the complete opposite of what you're conventionally trying to achieve when talking about "staggered" - tho i do agree for track/auto-x applications the reverse-staggered setup helps on a FWD

Grassroots motorsports runs a little civic with a setup like that for tire testing I believe.
I would say wider in rear is for looks only. Wider in front could have some performance advantages both in handling and straight line.
