Okay i just got and installed my greddy type s bov, yes its blowing off to the atmosphere, its not the stalling that is annoying me, its the fact that the sound didn't change, its just lounder now, still sounds like a dying squirrel or a turkey "gobble gobble" i can't figure out why its making this sound still, i thought it would change with bov, should i tighten the screw on the top all the way, or loosen it as much as i can. or what? any suggestions i was expecting that rally sound and i have a louder turkey wtf!

Maybe its not the blow off valve. I have one installed but have started the car yet, I'm in the middle of installing the turbo. I hope mine does't sound like a turkey, I thought it was supposed to have the chirping sound.

ryan, have you tried consulting someone to see if its that your valve plug (ig thats what you want to call it) is remaining open when pressure is released? As I said at the meet, it appears to be making that turkey sound as the plug buffets against the seal in the inside of the chamber. Perhaps if a way could be devised to prevent that buffeting, it might achieve your desired results. Hope that helped somewhat,

zoom sorry its funny that youre into the forum as much as me to the point where you are visiting while installing your turbo

I hear ya. Hell, I'm so addicted, sometimes I get up in the middle of the night to piss, and I usually stop to see if there are any new post.:D

I have a laptop on my tool chest, so everytime I get a tool, I'm look around for a minute.

Loosen it as much as you can. This will give you more of a sharp whistle sound. But, you will prob have problems with stall, or hesitation/lag...Later,

hrm... i loosened it and stalling was a bigger issue than b4.. hrm.. geesh.. if i recirc it will the stalling end?

the turkey sound is normal. My friend with an rx-7 told my it is the compressor wheel changing directions when the boosted air is pushed back towards the turbo. I have the hks and get the same gobble sound but if i really punch it i hear the nice whistle.

isnt that,,,uh,,,kinda bad for the turbo?

I have the Type S. . .
makes a "chuckling' or turkey gobble kind of sound.

I don't have a stalling issue unless I make one (high revs or boost and pushing in the clutch and keeping it there). I hate to say, check your vacuum lines, but it sounds like it is something else.

The only other thing is that I originally hooked the Type S up according to information from a number of DSM posts. . .it stalled all the time. (That was when I hooked up both nipples. . .doesn't work that way, only the top should be hooked up and the bottom -- angled one -- should be left vented to atmosphere.)

Attached is what I'm packing under my hood. . .hope it helps.(thumb)

no the stalling is the same issue everyone has beavis. Thats not the problem i can drive around that, is the dayum turkey sounds i was hoping for a totally different sound but sounds the same to me.. and recirculating it should keep it form stalling. rather than venting to the atmosphere i'll find out tonight as i'll be hooking it up a bit differently. as well as adding joe p's reducer.

Listen here crack head, did'nt i tell you that you weren't going to get that sound because of it's placement. Show everyone a pic so they can see what i'm talking about. It's to far away from the TB. Bring that s*** over this weekend and i'll getting blowing off like a lil b****:D

ok. i get that same sound when i hit like only 1 or 2 pounds. but if im higher it will make it very quickly then a high pitched blow sound will follow. sounds very nice if u ask me. make sure the hose connected to it if on the top thingy. and make sure there are no leaks in the hose. sounds like ur not boosting enough or something. do u have a boost gauge?

lol lazerblue, thats funny, im boosting about 12 psi, its has to do with what serpentkilla said, problem tho perez im moving this weekend, to knoxville.... im not doing anyting tomorrow "friday" maybe then, but i dont wanan go cutting s*** if were not positive it'll work yanno hehe. then i'll be towing my car to knoxville lol.

For running 12psi. It dosen't seem like the valve is tight enough. My friend ran the type S on his VR6 Turbo and it had a sharp blow-off and then a whisle sound. Same with my friends turbo Civic. Sit there with one hand on the TB, rev the engine, and keep adjusting it BOV untill you get it just right. (making sure it won't stall out ofcourse) Thats what I did on my SAAB turbo. It used to do the same thing. :D

it seems to me its just our cars, or its the position of the bov in relationship to the throttle body like serpent killa said.

I will just goto a pipe shop and have them make me a replacing ic pipe that goes off the throttle body down to the bottom of the intercooler and put a outlet for the bov relocate it and see how it works..

was this problem ever resolved ryan??? i am running into the same problem right now, and its really pissing me off, i dont want the dead turkey, i want the turkey on crack!! how did your setup turnout??

ok i have the same bov and im not having any problems, on the adjustment screw, screw it in 3/4 of the way that should fix the stalling problem ,for the high pitch sound that u are looking for try to run the vac line to a direct vac source like the nipple the cruise control is on ,thats what i did and mine is fine no stalling and it will blow off loud as hell at like 3000 rpm at 3 pounds of boost hope this will help yall out
