yeah....kinda sux

so far my dealer has been good to me, maybe you got lucky with your DSM as well.

i've heard horror stories from evo guys.
dealers not covering clutches, trannies, LSd's.......

I've heard that too...people with bone stock EVOs are having trouble with warranty issues.

I think the EVO is a whole new beast for Mitsu ... they seem to be getting crappier with the newer high HP cars. The 2G 4g63T's were awesome cars though ... dealershups didnt seem to mind you going crazy with them.

Wow ... thats good information ... i had no idea. I guess its too late for me, but others should know this. Mazda can be sneaky bastards sometimes ...

My signed warrenty voucher does say that i can install a EBC as long as boost is kept at a resonalble level ... ie under 10. Im sure they would find a way to screw me in the end though. My warranty is not exactly through Mazda NA though ... its through an aftermarket company ... i paid about 4k for it when i bought my car. I can do most everything except swap the turbo or install NOS.

Ohh and dont worry ... i don't jump into e-fights over something like good information.

Oh, and I've said it before, and I'll say it again. My stock wastegate line cracked, and caused me to overboost. Now had I not known what was going on, I would have definitely popped my motor. But instead, I knew what happened, and immediately got off the gas, drove to the nearest auto parts store without hitting boost, and replaced the line with a part that EXCEEDS OEM SPECS.

Mazda would be damn stupid to try and deny me warranty work because I replaced a faulty part. My lawyer is a friend of the family, so legal fees would be very low to nothing.

maybe not a lot of people were into modding back then......not a lot of claims.
dunno......

seems like it's everywhere now......some kid redlining his DX civic waiting for VTEC to kick in.
then POP.

Now of course, if the replacement line fails, and I overboost and damage the motor, then definitely my warranty is gone, and I definitely wouldn't try to fight it, it was my fault. But if my engine fails at stock boost, then it's being covered under warranty, no matter how many legal hurdles I have to cross.

what size hose did you use? how did you keep the hoses from kinking? The is a built in 90 deg. elbow at the wastegate and intake manifold. How do you remove the metal clamp at the intake manifold, BPV and wastegate? What is the size of the nipples at those locations (I guess that would dictate what diameter hose to use?). I decided to replace all the stock vacuum hose becuause I don't like them!! They are too stiff and brittle. Any reason why I should not do this? Thanks.
Mazda replaced all mine for me. :) They were falling apart.

Yeah ... thanks Fast and the furious for making my life harder.

HAH

What it all comes down to is if your dealership is a prick or not. Service managers make bank on doing as little warranty work as possible. Some service managers take pride in mazda products and own up to bad products others will try to charge you to put air in your tires.

Regardless if you're not planning on keeping this car for a few years or aren't ready to "pay to play" then dont go that route. If you're upgrading vaccum lines you're wanting to extend the functionality of your turbo reliability etc etc. If that voids your warranty than make sure its worth it in your eyes.

Oh damn the can opener may get stuck to my metal plate again!@
Turn off the microwave Mom TURN OFF THE MICROWAAVVEE!

ok, back on topic.
so what size hoses are you guys using? I can't find 3/16" vacuum hose anywhere!!! I can find 3/16" fuel hose though. I can find 7/32" vacuum. Ist that OK? Does the wastegate require a special thicker hose so it won't melt?

Yeah, aside from crank walk!!!

it couldnt hurt anything for it to be thicker

best bet is to use some of that foam type hose cover thats used near our engine bay

the fuel lines are braided, hence can withstand more pressure.
i would use a fuel line for my wastgate line.
i actually have done this on few MSP's and always used fuel line.
fuel line is also recommended for use with MBC's, especially if u're running long lines, to eliminate spiking.

In my new setup I have a braided line coming from my wastegate with that heater shield cover on it. Inside that cover I have a connecter which goes into silicone hose through the rest of the setup into and out of the mbc.

I had originally had straight silicone but had the spike issues..... from my little bit of ******* around, it seems the spike issues with silicone hoses hooked up with an MBC only happen on curves or corners. If you have your lines setup where the hose is stable (ie tied down in a few locations) then the spike issues dont happen.

As long as you keep your lines as straight, and short as humanly possible then all is good.

The 3g64T didnt have an incredable problem with crankwalk ... the 3g64 however did ... also the last generation of the 3g63. Mine only had the stock crank, pistons, and rods for about 6 weeks though.

well, I replaced all the vacuum hoses with 7/32" vacuum hose. The stock hoses are 3/16" but I could not find it anywhere. 5/32" and 7/32" were the closest vacuum hoses I could find. I was not going to run fuel lines everywhere so I went with 7/32". 5/32" was too difficult to fit over the BPV nipple. My hands are still hurting from installing the Unichip!! I have blisters in 3 fingers fromtrying to reconnect all the crappy stock hoses that kept splitting!!! I might replace the wastegate line to fuel line though.
BTW, all the hoses that came with the Unichip where soft silicone.
