what size hose did you use? how did you keep the hoses from kinking? The is a built in 90 deg. elbow at the wastegate and intake manifold. How do you remove the metal clamp at the intake manifold, BPV and wastegate? What is the size of the nipples at those locations (I guess that would dictate what diameter hose to use?). I decided to replace all the stock vacuum hose becuause I don't like them!! They are too stiff and brittle. Any reason why I should not do this? Thanks.

I don't think there is a reason not to do that, they are very bad hoses stock.

I replaced my wastegate line and bpv line, I used 7/32" which is just a hair too big, but they fit fine. I think 3/16" is the stock size, but advance auto parts only had 3/16" fuel line, not vaccum line, so I went with the 7/32".

About the clamps, I just pulled the one on my wastegate off since it is a metal nipple and I wasn't worried about it breaking. For the BPV one you can either try to get the clamp off or just cut it to hell.

I thought stock was 1/8"???? so your wastegate line does not kink since it has to make a 90 deg. turn?

I already voided my warranty!! :(

I replaced all of mine with new hose ... and i have no warranty issues at all. The Mazda tech even said to me. "looks like you replaced all those crappy hard hoses" ... i was like .... ummm humm.

Nope, no kinking.

1) stock hoses suck bad.

2) stock clamps suck bad.

3) find the hose techniques website and purchase the kit for the P5. Plenty enough of each size.

4) go to autozone and pick up some new clamps
Very easy to do. Very reasuring after its done. I'll look for a pic of mine

very old pic of my setup but you get the idea. I'll take an updated pic later. Keep in mind you might want to still keep a lot of the heat shields used with the stock hoses for protection.

Connectors solve that problem but isnt really needed. Unless you're using heater hose it'll be hard to find a vaccum hose that'll kink like that. The stock hoses are overly brittle (sp?)

You got that right ... i snapped the wastegate hose off in my hand when i tryed to remove the dang thing fromt he T connector. That was reason 1 i replaced all the hoses. Reason 2 would be that the factory setup does not really provide enough vacuum for running a single BOV setup imo. So i spiced the brake booster line and gave the wastegate a dedicated source.

I have a statment from the dealer in writing that they will not void me based on aftermarket upgrades to a certain point. There are certain stipulations, but as long as i dont do anything stupid ... im covered.

By the way ... the Mazda warrenty says that they have to proove specifically that your upgrade caused the problem. How can they equate vacuum hoses to a blown engine?

i've posted this before
late last year all mazda dealerships got a letter from Mazda NA saying that if the wastegate line is cut or repplaced, then the car is a candidate for a prior installation of a boost controller.
and that's it.
they will tell you to go f#ck yourself.

and i know, u gonna say "oh, i'll sue them"

u can try (they might be wrong), but by the time this goes to trial, u will be out many thousands of dollars.

not trying to start a fight, u're cool celdridge, just stating the facts.
u havent been here long enough to witness the battles people had with Mazda.
they wont budge, and they have many more lawyers than anyone of us could afford.

this all happened after a guy in orange couty blew his mottor.
his dealer was the only one i know of that fixed his car "complementary" and not thorugh Mazda NA.
basically dealer ate 3-4k, or whatever it is for a new motor.

Wow ... thats good information ... i had no idea. I guess its too late for me, but others should know this. Mazda can be sneaky bastards sometimes ...

My signed warrenty voucher does say that i can install a EBC as long as boost is kept at a resonalble level ... ie under 10. Im sure they would find a way to screw me in the end though. My warranty is not exactly through Mazda NA though ... its through an aftermarket company ... i paid about 4k for it when i bought my car. I can do most everything except swap the turbo or install NOS.

Ohh and dont worry ... i don't jump into e-fights over something like good information.

an incorrectly installed vacuum hose delayed the opening of the wastegate, and resulted in higher boost than the engine was designed for.

thats how easy it is for them to blame you.

so far my dealer has been good to me, maybe you got lucky with your DSM as well.

i've heard horror stories from evo guys.
