MP3 With Clunk Package
I've visited a couple of places to try and repair my MP3 Racing Hart Rim. They all said the damage was easely repairable, but that in no way could they match the coating on the mag. its some kind of special paint they don't have. Anyone managed to repair one? I don't even feel like having these mags because of this lol. If i want to repair the mag i need to re-coat all 3 others so my 4 wheels look similar, and they wouldn't even look original anymore. Might as well buy a new one at that extremely exagerated price ( FU Racing Hart ). But then, there's no way of ever repairing the damage on them anyhow.

Bleah!

FU again Racing Hart.

I repaired 2 scratched wheels on our MP3 and you can see where the scratches was.

I got a color match paint from my paint provider. He needed a wheel to do the match but the color is perfect. I did the repair with an airbrush. Shooted a bit of clear and buffed it. Perfect!

A real good auto paint store can provide you the exact color match. The problem is that it's not everybody who can do a good match!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys.

I couldn't do the repair's myself as the wheel was badly damaged (probably a bit twisted too ) so i finally bought a new rim. ( it was like 200 canadian to get it fixed + they swore they couldn't re-coat it the same color ).

Altough i have minor damage on another of my rims so i might be interested in that paint thing. Who's your paint provider Stou? And you only repainted the scratch part of the wheel?

I buy my paint at Car Quest in St-Eustache, Quebec. Like I wrote earlier, I brought a wheel and the guy did a perfect color match for it.

I painted only the damaged part of the wheel. I did the repair with a airbrush. But I'm kind of little skilful with that. So maybe it's not everybody who can do those kind of repair. To give you an idea of what I mean, you can take a look at my website: Stou design web site

Stou, i work in Laval :-) I think i might have seen your MP3 on the 440 once or twice in the past years. ( not many MP3's on the roads here in quebec, and not many with some small hood scoops ).

You got any paint left? hehe. Altough i can probably do the same thing you did for the guy in Ste Eustache its not that far. I doubt i could only buff and paint all my scratches. The ones from rocks are pretty easy as the paint just chipped off but i have one that the alluminium is a bit dented. Altough if i can get the color, ppl at places like Botec and such could probably repair it easy. He said there was no way of getting the same color. pfft!

Btw thats some nice stuff on your website, you really are good!

Mine are beyond repair....I seem to like curbs..
But the thought did cross my mind to get them fixed and re-coated..

Ive had more trouble getting my rims fixed than I could have ever imagined. I was going to get them poudercoated.. But no one around here can do it because they say that they have to be sandblasted first.

I like the idea of airbrushing them.. Has the paint held ok?

Karl Marx,

If you saw a MP3 with small hood scoops in Laval, it's our MP3 (my wife's car now). It also have a airbrush design on the hood now.

I have some paint left but I'll need it. I have another wheel to repair next winter. If it is a bit dented, it will needed a little bit of plastic repair and sanding before the paint. It's not a problem.

If you can't find someone to do it just let me know. Maybe I can do it for you.

katsmp3,
the paint is the same kind of paint that they use on car, so it's the same quality.
