anyone race a stock wrx yet ?

Why do some of you guys keep comparing the MSP to the WRX? the WRX is faster, better handeling car, period. What about the MSP? it's a very nice car and for the money you really can't go wrong but it's stupid to compare to a vehicle that isn't in the same league.
It would be like comparing a WRX with an EVO or an STi.

Yes I have driven both. I have more experience in the WRX so i feel more at home in it; however, from the times that i have driven in or raced against the MSP the WRX edged out the MSP. My friend does not have the flash and maybe that will make up the diffrence.

JAC...people compare because of idolism. The WRX was the king when it arrived. I was one of those people waiting for years (3) for it to come over...it finally does, and every freakin boy-racer, granny, and well anybody is buying one. It kinda kills the mystique. It's not just us either...the SRT-4 is directly compared to the WRX. They're not in the same price/performance category either...but the WRX is still considered a touchstone, ya know?

And i have to ask, again...can you honestly say that the WRX is a better handling car than the MSP, from experience? Unless you've driven both, then I'm not sure how you can...I won't jump out and say that the MSP is a better handler, because I haven't driven the WRX. All I can compare is Dyno numbers, skidpad numbers, Slalom speeds, and personal experience.

I forgot the biggest rule of driving. It's 90% driver, 10% car. if you're used to a car it can be more towards the driver. If you're not, it'll be more towards the car...in quite a drastic fashion. In other words it's not so simple going from AWD performance driving to FWD and vice versa on the fly w/o prior experience in the vehicle.

Eh...some people take things the wrong way. Once he has the drive, drive the car and see if you notice the difference. I did the second I got on the gas. I think it'd be a much closer race. As for 1320 times, I'll let you know. I'm hitting Epping tomorrow (and going with a Turbo MP3---it'll be 1stMP3's first time at the track...w00t!) I can definitely estimate an increse in my trap from 90-92 or 94. That could put me in the high 14s if i can launch right.

Remember the clutch system in Subaru is viscious = similar to torque converter. And the original post was about "stock" wrx not some wrx with "black mods" and suspension.

find a good twisty road find what the top speed you can take the road. put the subie on the outer lane and watch him slide.

I dunno about anyone else, but I thought that the stock WRX suspension was a little too soft for my tastes. It defineately has what it takes to be an MSP killer though

However, at one subaru meet I was at a guy with an Outback Sport was keeping up just fine in the canyons. It's all about the driver.

hold up i heard that the 04 WRX does a quater in 14.6 b/c of the heavier flywheel and something else

also i think i heard that the first and second gear of the 04's only boost like 8 psi

so having a car like ForceFed (i think thats him thats running 14.07) can outrun a stock 04,

correct or not

hmmmm let me see here people say the wrx is fast and the msp is not true the msp does have less hp then the wrx but thats not to say that the msp could not beat a stock wrx with the proper mods you could beat a stock wrx or even a moded one i dont know why people think the wrx is a really fast car my friend has a turboed probe gt and he smokes wrxs all day long but as far and a race wrx in front and in the twistes msp all the way just my 2.cs

What is it that they say?...90% driver & 10% car. I've seen just about every fast car out there with a lousy driver run as much as 2 seconds slower in the 1/4 than it's supposed to.

I just noticed someone I know from another Forum and said hi. I know this thread is about a stock WRX I wouldnt waste my time typing here if you were saying Mili's car was slower than a MSP

Also nobody said the MSP was slow its an amazingly well rounded car and has very respectable performance. That performance is made even better by the small price tag (if you paid less than 19k)
