Anyone know anything about Autroncs or their products?

Still think, for a feature rich unit, the Haltech E6X would be better...
it hits you right in the price point you are after ($1395 aud) and with a boost solenoid purchased from haltech it will do basic boost control etc for you out of the box.

they've got oodles of features, and whilst they may not quite be as "complete" as an autronic, do you honestly think you are going to use every feature any ecu offers you? I have a Microtech LT10S which is basic by comparison, and theres still a whole range of features i don't use, and have no intention of using!

I know you said support wasn't there for the haltech's in the states, but plenty of people are using them on these forums, and they can point you in the right direction. There are a bunch of US dealers listed on their site, you could ring up a few and see if they do offer support (i'd be surprised if noone over there offered any sort of support).

I had heard somewhere that the Haltech E6K/X was being phased out in favour of the new E8 module. For a bit more expense it might be worth going to the E8 if you were to go down the Haltech path.

I had read in a few places that a lot of people don't like using the Haltech EBC unit. Can't quite remember what the reasoning was though....

There are other Autronic units available - the SM2 and SMC. Not sure how much that would save you but I don't think that you would miss out on much by going to the SM2.

they may be getting phased out, but still available, and supported...just means you wont be able to buy a newie once they are phased out...may even be able to get a CHEAPIE if they are wanting to off load their stock of the items.

E8 is an absolute brick of a unit..its enormous...

the onboard EBC may be limited, but its a "free" EBC essentially.... enough to tide people over until they get something more feature rich.

Its not really "free" because you will still have to buy the Haltech EBC as it does not come standard with the ECU.
