Yes I have one
17x7.5 /w 48mm offset - 215/45-17 - Eibach springs??

I have read Rishie's FITMENT RECIPE and 215 width are not recomended, but I'm sure someone has tried them anyway.

So for anyone who has tried it is there any rubbing?? I mean any at all especially with passengers or cargo in the rear.

[EDIT]
Sorry forgot to add that I am inquiring about this combo for a P5.

With that offset you should be fine... I think. The only thing I'm wondering is if your tire will be too tall.. that 45 profile could cause problems.

yea thats what im thinking...seeing that most people dont seem to know that the 45 series is a PERCENTAGE not an actual height...so that a 45 on a 225 would be hella tall, while a 45 on a 195 really wouldnt be. so 45 on a 215 might be a bit big i would say...

215/45s come stock on the MSP from what I remember, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem if the offset is right...

I have 215/40 17s with Tein springs....about a 2" drop in front, 1.3~.5" drop in back...

Sorry about the bad pics, these were shot along time ago for the Pclub which is I guess gone...This board seems more active anyway...

The only reason I want to run 215/45-17 is because we have some bad roads around here and the little extra height will offer that added rim protection. I ran 215/45-17 on my Focus and had rub. I think it was because I had 42mm. I switched to 205/45-17 and the rubbing was gone, but I was always having to come to almost a complete stop with small potholes or bumps.

Also being that is the stock size on the MSP, what is the height difference between the drop with MSP springs and Eibach?? Might be another option to get the tire size I want. As long as it doesn't sacrifice handling.

Remember that the MSP is a Sedan... and the Sedans have a little more wheel well space than the P5.. allowing them to run lower offsets and a tad bigger tire.

RAZOR YOU ONE SMART GUY!
You know your s*** on some subjects don't you!

Lets do a little tire size 101 for the guys who don't understand what all the numbers and designations are on a tire.

Lets see well pick any tire ,lets say a 215/45/17 of the MSP.
The first number in the series is the width of the actual tread in mm,215mm wide, which also equals 8.46" of tire width.
The second number is the heighth,BUT it is a percentage of the WIDTH,45% as tall (from bead to tread) as it is wide.
45% of 215mm's would be 96.75mm's tall or 3.81".
The last number is real simple, the size of the rim it will fit.
Then you have tire speed ratings that follow the numbers.
ANY QUESTIONS?

Good point. Didn't even think of that. :o I just don't know if that extra 1/2 inch in the wheel well will make a difference in rubbing or not.

Oh and ForceFed. I hope that installment of Tires 101 was not directed towards me. :D I do know tires.

NOPE!
It was for anyone who wondered EXACTLY what all the numbers meant on a tire.
Just puttin some correct info out for the un-informed members of the board!
Just always trying to help in any way I can!

You may also hear the second number called an "Aspect Ratio", in magazines they sometimes say 315s with an aspect ratio of 30 (911 GT-2's rear tires!!)

but yeah forgot about the sedan differences...I would bet you will still be ok...

215/45's have a total sidewall height of 96.75mm (total being bead to top of tread)
215/40s have a total sidewall height of 86mm...I know I have more than 1 cm of space in the fenders in my P5 even when the suspension is completely compressed with the 40 series tires. Again just watch the wheel offset...The inner parts of the fender flares are not that big...

I am currently running a 17 X 7.5 with 215/40 and on eibach springs.....and btw....they ARE talked about in the recipe....

if you DON'T rub with the 45's on the edge of the fender you will be fine. as they are REALLY close with the 40's. yeah I know you aren't talking WIDER...but taller....still.

the only REAL disadvantage i can see is with the speedo error you will end up with. the CLOSEST to stock diameter wheel you can get is a 215/40....the 45 series tire will just put more error into your speedo.
