anyone have the protege shop manual

i want to take a look at the headlights (exploded verison)
i'm looking to take them apart and have the black peice on the inside painted blue.
it would give it a built-in look.
i asked the monkeys at the dealer but they just told me, "na you cant do that,
it's a sealed beam yata yata"
( i would like to kick those guys in the neck)
is it a prerequsit to be an asshole to work at a dealer?

the head lights are a one piece deal if you go to buy new ones. in other words, the dealer said what is true to him, you can't buy just a replacement lens.

however, this mod has been done on other forums with fantastic looking results. now, i haven't done this personally, so you might want to check before you follow what i am about to say.

stick the light assembly into your oven (less bulbs and wiring) at 200F for about 5 minutes and the lens should come right off with a little prying. then take it apart, do what you want to do to it, stick it back together and repeat the oven thing to seal it back up. follow this with a bead of silicone to really seal it back up.

i'm not sure of the exact process, but many guys on the ClubSI.com forum have done it. if you go there and do a search, you'll find it.
