Anyone have the Lamin-X headlight/foglight protection kit?

I had the foglight ones on my Tacoma, briefly. I have heard great things about them but the ones I had kept peeling up on the edges so I took them off. I have also read that the headlight ones are extremely difficult to put on due to all the curves and contours. A hot blow dryer does help though.

The CX-5 has curvy difficult sections on its headlight design. I would not recommend a "thick" film for installation Pro or DIY. Otherwise for relatively flat surfaces I highly recommend http://www.xpel.com/products/headlight_protection.asp Its 30mil thick and super strong.

For the CX-5 I used a much thinner 8 mil film and still had a hard time. I used the kit found on http://www.clearmask.com/
The headlight/foglight combo is only around $50.00.

To answer OP's question- check the mil thickness. Anything above 20mil is pretty hard to install unless a Pro does it I guess.

I thought about getting them for mine but thought it might be a bit tricky due to the shape of the headlights so I didn't.

You guys need to consider a potential adhesive failure at the edge of the film. After some time, the edge of the film (especially the curvy one) might be losing its stickiness. The plastic lens does expansion-shrinkage cycle due to heat. The film is peeled a little bit then dust and dirt are collected and stick onto the failing adhesive. Majority of people do not notice this. The collected dirt will scratch the plastic, thus it breaks down the UV coating on the lens. This kind of failure can be seen on 3g/3gs iphones that use invisible shield (similar concept).

Professional detailers usually use Opti-Coat for their customers' cars. It is a UV sealant that will last at least a year. Opti-Coat is for body panel. They make one specifically for headlights. I just applied it to my headlights while they are still free of oxidation and scratches.

Yea, I got a set, it was on sale, I had to cut it into 2 piece to make it work, that part protrude out is the hardest. so there is a gap on the side, I only cared about the front so I'm ok with it for now. is only if you look close you will see it is not very uniform.
