Anyone have a K&N Yet?

I was looking on their site. The best fit I seem to be able to find is part # 33-2134. Does anyone have one and did they buy this part number? Any info appreciated.

yup, have one, works great for $35.

and yes, that's the correct part # for ALL 3rd gen Proteges (DX, LX, ES, MP3, P5) :D

SWEET! I ordered mine from AJUSA.com for $31 shipped! Hope I get it by the weekend.
Does it make a noticable difference in power and/or sound? I loved it when I got one for the bike. Can't wait to get it for the car.

minimal butt dyno power gain (what do you expect for $31, good deal btw :)), maybe a quicker throttle response.

but you'll DEFINITELY HEAR the difference! :D

If the throttle response is better I can't wait to run the next autocross. I'd love to get a little better punch out of the corners. And it will be nice to have a little sound coming from under the hood while staying stock. :)

Felt slight seat o' pants increase.
Better throttle response too.
Supposedly the K&N gives 3-4hp compared to the 5-7 of the open air filter, not bad for $200+ cheaper.
There is almost no sound change BTW.

If you want noise... remove all the plastic crap before the box. THat is the air muffler... it wil give you a ncie growl after that....

Jc

I looked at removing that air muffler. Will it bring more dirt into the filter if I do that? Also, will I be pulling hotter air into the filter box and decreasing power? Just wondering because I have considered it, but haven't done any mods as of yet.

What is the plastic crap that you are referring to? Could you provide more information?

I bought the filter for $29 locally and wondered if it will sound different at all. Some say yes, some say no.

Thanks.

There is a large intake box that rests above the radiator and fans that directs air into the air box that contains the filter. It seems to be extra weight, other than possibly drawing cooler air from outside the engine bay into the engine.
The sound isn't really an issue, just like it sometimes. The performance is what I'm looking for.
$29 is a damn good deal!

That box is like a fresh air intake, I had to remove all that crap when I did the AEM intake system. I don't think removing it is going to net you anything weight wise, its really not that heavy.

I bought one for that part number, too. Along with the cleaning kit for $49. I think all of you got better deal than me...But how many miles should I suppose to clean it?
