Anyone had a rattle at 3000rpm in 2nd Gear?

The dealership has my pro5 right now and it has a rattle that sounds like its coming from the Engine Bay. If you hold the car at 3000rpm in 2nd gear it sounds like crap....

Anyone else had this problem? The dealership can't figure it out!

tell them to check the syncros, it might be coming from your tranny

well, around 3000 rpm there is a resonance with my exhaust system that causes a bit of vibration...

it's actually useful to tell if there's anything loose

The engine is dead!

The dealership has informed me that my engine is about to go kaput! Something to do with the piston rings and wrist pins.
A new engine is required to be installed.

I think I am going to complain to Mazda and see if there is anything that can be done as in take the car back (only 13,000kms) or allow me to upgrade to a new Mazdaspeed or 3.

Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this issue with their car?

nope haven't heard anything like that on an NA pro

you won't get a new car, but you will get a new engine out of the deal, and a free loaner for the mean time

Pro5, what were some of the other symptoms with your rattle. I know mine rattles at about 2700 to 2900 RPM when it's cold. I'm pretty sure that is just the "cold start rattle" because after 5 minutes or so you can't duplicate the rattle any longer. Now you've got me curious though...

I have the same thing...it kind of sounds like chatter comming from the engine but can only be heard at about 3,000 RPM in 2nd gear...the dealership told me that it wasnt anything to worry about, since it is only heard in 2nd. i have not had any other problems with the engine and i have been fine now for 40,000 miles.
