Anyone Fly R/C Heli's

I have always wanted to get into these and I flew a little toy one....Co-axial and I am hooked...Even though its a totally different machinethan I am looking to buy... I still want one.

I need a new hobby.

I am definately wanting one that can fly invrted right off the bat..I dont want to have to upgrade shortly down the road.
I was looking at theHeli-Max Axe CP EP RTF from Tower hobbies here

But after reading a bit..It seems that most want you to get a better/bigger bird as they are typically easier to fly ans will do more as they are a bit more stable.

I know this...Hobbies typically arent Cheap.
I used to want to do RC cars..But my buddies all had them..and I liked to drive them..for a few..them I was bored.

I've always been interested in flight...R/C and in real life..It just interests me....And its safer than me stunting a motorcycle.

And Crashes don't have to cost that much..but I do understand where your coming from.

I have one like those (air hogs Helo) and its plenty of fun. Even tho it only has 2 controls its still a challenge to get it to level out and hover.

I like to chase my dogs w/ it lol

See if you can find a local RC club that has some heli folks in it that can help you learn. Buddy system is a wonderful thing! It really does help to decrease the learning curve and helps keep your wallet a little more full too (every crash usually equals a set of blades). I used to have a hobby shop that specialized in RC planes (we sold cars, boats, helis, etc. too). I'm a fixed wing girl myself...the helis just have way too much going on for my liking.

yep, bigger heli is better/more stable. The smallest I would go with a heli is an Align Trex 450

Just got into these things myself. They are fun. Don't get too attached to your first 3 or 4 models.

Do yourself a favour and get this:

You can fly Co-axial, Tail rotor heli's, Gliders & planes with this simulator. It's cheaper to blow up electrons before getting into the real thing. It's as close as you can get to the real thing.

I actually just got into this hobby last week. I was looking to pick up that Axe CP too, but the local hobby store explained why the CP was not a staarted heli, so I ended up getting a E-Flite blade CX-2.

I am still trying to get used to it, but it's great. once I master this heli, I will definitely be picking up the CP. I didn't go the Sim way, so I have crashed a LOT, probably spent about 30-40 bux on replacement parts already so I will recommend you get the sim Kona Bear recommended. I downloaded the demo and it's pretty fun.

This thread is funny because since my car has been down for so long, I have began the hobby of buying these r/c helicopters. The hobby shop guy started me off small with a cheap electric r/c helicopter. He said to practice before I buy the 4 channel (which can pitch/yaw) gas helicopter. They are pretty hard to fly and most of them need to be adjusted for a stable flight. It does get expensive after a few crashes but they are cool to fly and ill be buying a gas one soon.

there is nothing wrong with that one, it's actually a really good heli. the thing is that is you have zero experience flying helis, this is not the one you should buy; this heli is hard to maneuver. you need at least some practice with a simulator.

btw, that heli will be my next one. i can't wait to feel comfortable enough with my Blade Cx2 so i can pick up the AXE CP.

ooo that one u posted looks awesome. i always wanted a mini helicopter too heh but its a bit expensive so i saw this one in a sharper image catalog. its a baby one but it has the co-axial wit the tail rotor. pretty good price like $69? heh idk how good it is but i always wanted to fly it around the house LMAO

just a heads up, I was at hobbytown usa today and they had a computer simulator for flying rc helicopters and planes. Basically, just a video game with the actual controller connected to it. Might be worth checking out your local hobby shops and seeing if they have something similar. I tried it for 2 seconds and got frustrated, kept crashing, lol.

Like I said in my previous post, I would highly recommend going with a simulator first before flying anything with a tail rotor. Just don't want you to get frustrated and end up spending more time fixing the thing then actually flying it.

one of the best ones is RealFlight G3. i can do pretty good getting planes flying, but the landing part i can never do.
