Anyone else have this with their car?

Hi,

I just got my Mazda3 s Touring 5door manual a week ago.

When the car hit around 450 miles or so, I noticed the engine started ticking/clicking.

I never noticed it at all before, but when starting the car the other day I still had my door open and I could hear this very clear ticking sound. It's a constant ticking that seems to be in rhythm with the engine and when I rev the engine the ticking gets faster.

The sound definetly seems to be coming from around the engine.

Anyone else with a Mazda3 have this or might anyone know what it could be?

The car SEEMS to be running great and I love it... but this has be worried.

My Dad hasn't heard the sound yet but I described it to him and he said the same thing.

But why would the sound not have been there for the first few days?

yeah my car has done that for as long as i remember. As far as i know its nothing to worry about. Maybe it just started doing it because stuff is starting to get settled and broken in???

2500 miles on my car, and its always had the ticking. Take the valve cover off and its even louder.

yeah pretty sure its just a noisy valve train....

There was a recall on the mazda 3. something with my moter mount (i think it was the moter mount) was leaking. You might wanna check it out.

Could you elaborate? Recall? What do you mean, just your car? So, they took it and gave you your money back or what?

20600 mls. 04 m3 s 5dr, also makes ticking noise... did you get the recall notice in the mail or did they mention it while at the dealer...

pretty sure there is no recall, there was a tsb (technical service bulliten) about the motor mounts saying with excessive force they could rupture and need to be replaced.. i think that is what they are talking about...

I believe there was a recall on the shifting sensor?(sorry i cant recall) But there was something wrong with my motor mount. THey fixed it all for free and it hasnt "ticked" since.

to clear up this info there is only 1 recall out for the mazda 3 and its for the 04's and it involves the crash sensor for hte passenger side airbag... everything else a tsb
