Anyone did a complete Exterior Detailling on their CX-5?

Costco yellow mf are okay, but remove the white tag prior to using them as it might mar finishes. They're cheap and great for misc jobs like interior, wheels, engine bay, windows, etc. Be careful reusing them for paint. After a few washes, polishes, and waxes/sealant applications, the fibers become clumpy and hard. When they do become like that and cannot be cleaned, I use it for dirtier applications like engine bay cleansing.

Here is a good comparison for MF towels avail from autopia. I have never ordered from Autopia before as I found Autogeek to have slightly better pricing especially with sales, but they practically sell the same products.

There are many different kinds obviously. Here is a good description of what to choose.

I suggest looking at other sites like Autogeek for competitive pricing.

There are dedicated MF wash solutions that will thoroughly cleanse your towels and revive the fibers. I use said solution for my special pricey mf towels. Otherwise I wash my regular towels with Dawn dish detergent and white vinegar. Hot water in the washer, hung dry (do not use dryer). Do not use laundry detergent or fabric softener on MF towels because it will clump the fibers and intervene with the static charge of the towels.

I did my CX-5 couple weeks ago using Porter cable 7424xp dual action polisher. After washing it I first clay the car then i used Meguiar ultimate polisher and Meguiar Ultimate Paste Wax. I used appropriate pad with the polisher, it was super easy and result was awesome.

Porter cable 7424xp dual action polisher worth every dollars. Im freaking not doing this by hand ever again.

When my Meguiar paste wax will be over, i will switch to liquid just because its most likely easier to apply. But paste was just fine.

^ This. If you need more cutting power with less time, the Flex or Rupes dual action would be better. Then again, like I mentioned, there is no need for the typical detailer to use anything more than just a PC 7424, unless you're fighting time to finish a customer's car.

I find Meg's UW liquid easier to spread evenly compared to the paste. Plus paste will stain trim if not removed aggressively and ASAP right after application. Meg's stated that the ingredient they used to make it into paste form stains.

Anyone know how to remove white residue (assuming wax) off plastic trims (bumper, door, etc.) and how to keep it clean? When dealer detailed the car, they left a bit of white residue on the front bumper and I have no clue how to remove it.

Citrus based cleaner and tooth brush, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (do not get on paint), Klasse AIO, or PoorBoy's Trim Restorer. A well known "remedy" is peanut butter, but unfortunately the oils hide the stains, but do not remove it.

Hi just did dawn wash to get rid of oils on the surface and place opti-seal on entire car. It should last 3-4 months but will see. Prior to opti-seal, I have used 3m performance finish but lasted at the most for 2 months. Besides 3m performance finish dried on bumper trims (little bit) but I could never get faint white residue off. I have tried wax remover, Autoglym bumper care, all purpose cleaner, dw-40 etc. I am not sure if residue it just masked or removed, but I have now used blue magic "black again" after reading many reviews. Hopefully the white residue will not come back. I use 303 protectant inside the car.
