Any photographers in here?

I agree. It probably all boils down to me using the T3i for less then a week and never having used a digital like this before is like learning how to shoot a picture all over again. My vivitar made taking pictures feel, well, easy. And that was more manual of a camera then this one lol. Anyone have any suggestions as to a good how to book I can purchase? and i swear, no one better say T3i for dummies...

The wide angle lens used in the first dock photo adds more drama to the scene. The second one looks too natural to be that interesting.

Ya I like the the angle and depth of the first dock photo better. Looking at it though..i do like the film better.

Thanks for the input guys. I agree with these statements fully, hence why it was enlarged to 24X36" and mounted in a custom frame I made, 200yr old barn siding with a white wash:

With that being said, are there any hints or tips you could give me on how to add more "drama" with using the digital?

wider angle lens and more contrast. That's the main difference in your digital photo and your film photo.

I like the concept of it... The sky is a bit blown out so I think a ND filter would have worked well there. Also, might want to work on the framing a bit better to get the viewer's eye is drawn to the car - personally, I don't quite know where to look. You could have solved that by getting a little lower, using a shallower depth of field, and filling the frame a bit more with the car.

The location is good and the concept is good, but something is niggling at me about it overall...

wow Rob, that last photo blew me away! F*CKING LOVE Nature shots! I think I just found a new wallpaper for my desktop ~_^
