Any photographers in here?

Any feed back for my pictures above that help make them better?

Well, honestly, I think both from a technical standpoint are quite good. Unfortunately, they're lacking... character? Try and make the first one a little more interesting - aka get low to the ground or capture the runner from an angle or lighting standpoint that makes the viewer consider the photo longer. Personally, I glanced at it and moved on because there wasn't anything extraordinary to keep my attention.

The second is a great action shot, but be careful to isolate what you're trying to capture. Are you concentrating on the woman kicking the bag, or the room in general? Maybe a tighter crop on her would illustrate it a little better.

Your natural grasp of the "rule of thirds" is apparent and make the photos easy on the eyes, and both are exposed well. Composition is one of the hardest things to develop, and its a constant learning and experimentation process. Keep it up!

Lens vs. logo. What wins?

I got a decent logo from a friend for just a thanks and some forum rep points and agreeing to spread the company name around. I couldn't get a lens for free. Adorama wouldn't give me credit for spreading their name around no matter how many times I asked. :(

I work a minimum wage job. I saved up a looooong time to be able to afford a lens that wasn't the $100 50mm I've been using until now. As I stated I've made a total of $30 on this photography thing. I have no intention of making this a career, just some money on the side.

I would love advice on fonts and design choices, but don't tell me how to spend my hard-earned money please. Thanks.

I can't give advice on the fonts. Post up some ideas/variations and we can all pitch in with opinions and suggestions. There's gotta be a design person kickin around with a forum that's got more than 10,000 members. I'm sayin' that logo could've came first because your pics are already pretty good, you could've kept going on that path without having to spend any more money. But I understand. Having a different lens will give you an opportunity and hopefully open more doors.

Here are 2 firsts for me: My first ever Lightroom edits, and my first ever Flickr uploads....

Actually I like both.

The first photo speaks of a lifestyle. It feels very commercial. Like advertising Men's Health. It feels like there has got to be an article that came with it. Technically..good photo.

Second....same as first. Like something out of Black Belt or Inside Kung Fu magazines. Very commercial, editorial. I like the hustle and bustle of the background, it's also a cool way of showing that anyone can do martial arts, how it's a room full of male students and she's the sole female practitioner.....or maybe she's a pro, just warming up....we don't know! Again..feels like an article belongs with this photograph. Or maybe a caption by the photographer.

Thanks. Ummm. There is a font out there called "Bleeding Cowboys" that I kinda like...

I think it might be too...cliche? Overused?

This sucker parked next to me at work yesterday. Wanna see the whole thing?

the shelby GT's were like the GT350 compared to the GT500. still higher than a stock GT but not quite as bad ass as the big boy. even though the new boss302 makes the gt500 look silly on a track but anyway.

Thanks for the feedback folks! I'll edit some more pics and post them up as time allows. I tried a few different things to get comfortable with learning to compose.

Hawaiian, when you say that maybe a better crop would isolate the subject better in the 2nd picture, do you mean vertical or both? The image is already cropped horizontally.

Also, Glen you made me kind of aware of some things I may not have been thinking of at the time when I shot these last month.

The crop is up to you, but personally, I would have cropped it tight so she's the only person you see. The intensity in her face is what grabbed my attention, and focusing the image on her is what I, PERSONALLY would have done. Glen brings up some good points too, so really, my gripes were from a stylistic point of view - there's nothing TECHNICALLY wrong with either.

Oh..I thought that car would've been a bit more badass. Looks so understated.

You know I thought exactly the same thing. I walked out after my shift and I just thought it was a decent mustang 'til I saw the "S-H-E-L-B-Y" spelled out on the rear. I'm not a fan of that stripe scheme either.

Got a friend trying to sell his Nikon d3000 with <3000 shutter count for $350 + $15 shipping.

Screen shot to prove shutter count:

Like I said on flickr - Great shot ;)
There's no EXIF info, did you remove it or just composed it of multiple images?

man i love your shots so much! id love to have that lens but im gonna rent it for when i got to NYC in a few weeks

i gotta do a slower shutter speed but I had some fun with time lapsing yesterday with the magic lantern software ive got in my t2i. this had 1 second delays between shots. 206 frames at 15 fps.

Thanks. I'm really enjoying this lens. Feels real heavy compared to my other ones. Built solidly. Zooms smoothly. Focus is fast and nearly silent. A good buy at $470. Only drawback is the corner distortion is pretty bad at 10mm but gets better in the middle of the range. Also take 70mm filters so not more $30 CPL's...

Yeah it's actually an HDR. I would never ever remove my EXIF data.

EXIF of "correct exposure:

10mm
F11
1/5 sec (tripod mounted)
ISO 100

Thanks. Definitely one to get your hands on whether renting or buying. I got mine specifically for my trip to Colorado next month. Landscapes anyone? I'm decided to buy instead of rent because it is very good for automotive shots as well.
