Thx guys for the input. I read all the reviews and it sure seems Canon has the best lenses for consistent quality.

I've only got canon lenses, and I'm very happy with all of them. I'd definitely suggest buying used though.

wow just looking at the other pics in this thread, my pictures SUCK! lol

Definitely not man. Your exposure is good, white balance is good and focus is good. That's really the hardest part. I like the first picture you took most (engine cover). Keep at it, take inspiration from other's styles and you'll be good to go.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

It might be the monitor that I'm using, but the CF hood and edge of the car, kind of melts into the background. I don't know if you can lighten it a little, but to my eye it looks a little wonky...

No it's not yours. That was a long time ago. I was still acquiring skills LOL. I'm just posting these up for Altspace, taken w/ the 10-22.

I don't know about you, but I go back and look at some of my pictures I thought were "good" back in the day... Boy did I suck...

Even funnier is in 3-4 years and 3-4,000 more photos from now how much I'm gonna look back and say how much my stuff now sucked...

how come in HDR's some stuff looks so sharp and other stuff looks fuzzy?

A lot of people don't finish the processing after combining the photos and tone mapping. Also, I process my photos after conversion in photoshop to try to make sure the elements come out right in the photos.

I'm the same way man. it's all perception really. Especially with the automotive stuff. It wasn't as consistant in quality.

Like these 2 for example. Both still lit w/ 2 external flashes.

Sweet! Thanks Funky. It seems the 10-22 is perfect. I'm stuck on my choices though. I also want to get the 70-300mm. Guess it depends on what I want to shot more of. ;)

I'd get a short lense before a long one... without my 18-55 my 50mm would cripple the crap out of me... and even with the 18-55 my buddy couldn't take good shots of the progress on his house.

correct me if I'm wrong but the 70-300 is a cheapo lens... isn't the 75-300 MUCH better? or have I got this backwards?
